The AoE component is of course the majority of the damage but the ST pressure is important.

...
Can you explain, how single target pressure fits in an aoe oriented mastery path?
You make it sound like this ability is required for Slayers to kill their target.
Because you need killing power in any spec. If you are a DPS, you want to damage your target. That is why the current nerf to ID is bad, because you barely hurt your target.

I wonder what is the reason marauders flail which is a core ST ability scales with monstro, because it is not AoE.
Spoiler:
Also they have easy access to 50% crit dmg / 25% dmg buff / Guilliotine which is one of the stronger finishers in the game.

I'm comparing these two as they have been the main melee AoE dps of both factions. (Not comparing to choppa because their ST tree has been superior to slayer and SL has had superior AoE)
The placement of an ability at the top of the AoE tree does not mean it shouldn't function as anything else than AoE. (it's aoe is fluffy dmg but now the "doomed" target is even fluffier :? ).

It is an ability with an unique concept, compared to the other trees 13 point abilities that up until lately have been "meh" it is extremely attractive, but that doesn't necessarily warrants a nerf, certaintly not a bad nerf like this.

I know there was a big restructuring and "we have a think tank", "changes are coming soon guys we promise" etc etc. but the glacial changes to what are currently HUGE factional imbalances (mainly melee squig being far, far too good at what it does and gtdc being a broken ability) is really worrying and this is someone that pretty much plays destro exclusively nowadays.

Destro has already had a substantial lead on eu primtime pops (somewhere along the lines of 1.5x order almost every night) and the current state of 24v24 is such that order gets crushed a vast majority of the time, save for when DnD are carrying them with their bw's. I feel like order pug population is going to dwindle into a laughable state unless class changes come in soon.

Firing Aza was a huge mistake imo, his changes really shook things up in a very, very good way (the disrupt formula change was one of the worst things that ever happened to ror).

Like how Shammy healdebuff does 0 damage to your target while AM healdebuff is an extra dot on your target? Not everything has to be the same, it's an aoe ability and it does tons of aoe damage, seems to be working to me. (ftr I love my Shammy healdebuff, aoe is aoe and it's a great source of it)

Aza's discord Q&A was literally the worst interaction I have ever had with any dev in my 2 decades of gaming. I liked his changes too but it's real obvious why he's not part of the team anymore.

Yes I can obviously see why they had to remove him, but pretty much the only reason I started playing against after taking like a 9~ month break was because he came back to the team and almost instantly made extremely positive changes to the game. His vision for class changes and the speed at which he did them were, imo, a fantastic breath of fresh air for ror, not to mention how wonderful it was to have a dev that actually interacted with the community with regards to feedback and general balance ideas (and not be a snarky **** at the same time..). He made some mistakes BUT he seemingly hotfixed them maybe a day or two later.

Again, yes the team was heavily 'restructured' but its been what... a month since actual balance changes? it's hard not to feel a bit bleak about the state of the game atm.

I'm deeply insulted you didn't include SH in that list. Tor Anroc is the 1 place in the game that I'll admit seems pretty destro biased.

Funny you mention that. I was in SC earlier with 4 chosen, 1 BG and 2 Melee Squig DPS and everyone was snared and punted.

IMO there are certain maps that need to be not allowed in the pug rotation. TOR is top of the list.

There's a reason why Destro always votes TOR and Doomstriker in for pug SC.
