So since as off the late we are all talking about classes and a lot of people are talking about how the class preformed in t4, i never made it into t4 i worked my way up to t3 but i know that the dynamic shifts and it almost feels a little bit like a different game so i ask how the class was played then? Was off classing with a glaive still viable?
We've all seen shut yer face so im going to assume it was "viable" though he was using rr100 gear and stacking a lot of pots
i can only speak for how the class is now and it feels like a dang strong class and using a glaive is fun, i hope that dosnt change
How were BG's played in t4?

Re: How were BG's played in t4?
I had a BG at 87rr in live server i remember 2 specs i was using. Both of them was with S&B though.
The one was a debuffer turtle tank and i was using it with premades mostly. You know running to healers debuffing them guard dps etc .
The other was dps focus(dps tree mostly) but with S&B too and it was my favourite, mainly for solo.I remember i was dealing good amount of damage, healers actually "feeling" me plus i could 1 vs 1 many classes like wp cause of the high block rate. That was my way of playing BG maybe others BG's better and higher rr had other builds with glaive.

Re: How were BG's played in t4?
Bg's were okay but not great. 2 hander was a waste because it only really gave you 1 new ability, the aoe-cone debuff where targets are easier to crit. But you give up the 5 second stun. 2-handers were good if you wanted to duel and try to AP drain someone and burn them fast. There was no other function.
The shield BG had the impressive 5 second knockdown (all full hate) but required a block. Good teams would avoid attacking a Bg, much like an ironbreaker. It only hurts you to attack them and build up their hate/grudge. However the Bg could easily follow a melee train and build up hate from aoe, and wait to score a block on incoming guard damage to make the stun available. The only problem is you can't run off and be a debuffer.
The debuffer was the other role the Bg played, because the outgoing healdebuff from soul killer was like a 20 second outgoing 50% healdebuff that made incoming healdebuffed players only receive 25% healing. A Bg could run around and slap soul killer on healers and really hurt the team. They were most nasty on Rune Priests because RP's could not remove mind killer. However, good RP's could easily run and heal and would easily avoid a Bg headed his way. The amount of time it took for the Bg to try and reach a fringe healer such as an RP and AM really hurt his team as it was missing a guard. Also no stun was available if the Bg ran away from damage.
So essentially you would be the most nasty against team's relying on a stationary warrior priest for heals, as you kept debuff up on him, and kept on a pain train delivering debuffs and a 5 second stun when it was up. This made them annoying, but it was such a rare moment where you could contribute any kind of difference to having a Bg with you. The long punt was also the occasional moment of shining for a Bg, but it wasn't a reason to roll a bg, it was just fun. The longest punt i've ever seen I got on fraps, it was Zabis punting a BW from the middle BO in Caledor into the river behind our group https://youtu.be/_Nq-tG5w9KQ

Word of Pain and Boiling Blood are no longer able to proc anything. The Bright Wizard College has confirmed this is a big deal. (stealth nerf)

With Guard+DarkProtector/OathFriend you get enough mechanic points and blocked guard damage to use the 5sec KD.Mez wrote:

Dying is no option.
Re: How were BG's played in t4?
from the enemy perspective as playing order, BG are usually pathetic if they try to go two hander (die easy) but as their debuffer spec with shield and high resit they are one of only two classes that can reach near-magic proof levels (the other being the WE) and can ruin any caster(s) burst combo when healed well.
just my opinion though..

Re: How were BG's played in t4?
In your average t4 group of 6 you are going with 2 tanks, 2dps, 2 healers. The other viable comp is 1 tank, 3 dps, 2 healers. In the second comp the tank is most always a chosen or Kotbs. In the first the BG would fall into the 2nd tank slot. In a 6v6 sc, which are melee heavy by nature, the BG was great at Debuffing the main dps, the dual AP drains, snare, 5 second KD, and super punt allowed them to be a real pain in the ass. They are however one of the most difficult classes in the game to play. They have about 25 viable abilities. Its the most of any class by far. (by viable i mean have a solid purpose and are useful unlike some abilities that classes have ie. a wh that has trial by pain on his hotbars should delete the character and burn his computer) That being said the class itself can put out a fair bit of dps while still being almost unkillable with good heals. They are extremely strong against caster dmg, and melee suffer getting through the block, parry, armor, and toughness of the class. They have their purpose which is to debuff the targets defenses and damage output and provide a little extra dps.

Re: How were BG's played in t4?
Thanks for all the responses so far guys, it looks like That as much as I want to glaive SnB is the way to go so one last question; chosen were always considered the best destro tank why was that when bg was such a strong utility de buff tank as well? What made chosens the best/better than bgs?

Re: How were BG's played in t4?
The massive amount of buffs/debuffs to relevant stats their auras gave to the whole (enemy) team and the AOE Mezz in their far right tree are some of the major factors that made the Chosen the go-to tank for premades.
Edit: Their filler/spam ability Ravage deals a fair amount of spiritual damage. This also sets them apart from other tanks who have to penetrate armor while the Chosen's main dmg ability is mitigated by spirit resistance (which he can debuff via one of his auras). For this reason even defensively speced Chosens could apply some noticeable pressure (for a tank).

thanks of the responses, now just one last question out of the 2; chosen or bg, which was better at 1v1/dueling?
