It should run on an Intel x86 based Surface but not an ARM based one (i think the ARM ones have been discontinued anyway).

I guess if you can plug a keyboard and mouse on it, then it can work. Afaik it runs normal windows but you need the one with Intel cpu.
Dying is no option.

I have tried running it on a Surface 4 pro. It runs, but the framerate is low (30 or so) and you get weird artifacts from certain effects.
It's the i5 6300 + 8GB of RAM version.
The problem is mainly the poor integrated GPU. So you should have more luck if you can find one with a Nvidia / AMD dedicated GPU.

Surface Pro works fine, Surface does not.
As others have said, the framerate is low. Try and find an open-box Lenovo Legion. They're about the same price and have a bigger screen, plus a non-integrated GPU.
