Idea is fine, but people would cheese it too much.

Deftard parry monsto maras, parry slayers, and don't even get me started on regen duel tanks builds lel.

Only instance why it worked was live and spontaneous events, thus ppl didn't had time to set their selves with cheese.

Again the idea of a parry slayer would be of no good vs non MDPS when / if they would move on to fight other archetypes.. hence why I wont allow respecs.

Im sure a Shammy vs Slayer or Magus or Zealot or Any other non mdps class would LOVE to have a Slayer use Rampage. Yes Rampage IF spec'd into it at start of tournament would be allowed. This would finally break the notion that Slayer is a all class killin machine with rampage also.

Personally? I wouldn't really savour a victory if I knew my opponent was not 'equipped' to fight my class/archetype. I want to win my opponent knowing that both him and I have taken every measure possible to maximise our chances of besting one another. I don't want to win him knowing that he was specd to fight other ranged dps, or other melee dps; I want to win him knowing that he was specd to fight ME - and lost all the same.

Sure - some classes are hardcounters to others, but that is the nature of a game that isn't balanced around 1v1. Everyone entering would know what to expect, what classes they would have particular trouble against, etc. - and that's fine.

Short of the time taken for respec (could surely have a career/rr trainer put near the location for event), I can't think of a reason why it would be bad to disallow respeccing against other archetypes.

Great idea, I already spend plenty of time dueling my guild mates In altdorf as it is as its a great way to test and theorycraft, However I would suggest you dont allow heal classes to participate unless they are melee spec, as a deftard /healspec shammy will laugh at anything that it faces while putting low damage dots on opponent slowly killing them.

I kinda like the idea behind the "no respecs" rule, trying to incentivize people to make a universal build that would work against multiple opponent types, isntead of cookie cutter builds maximized against one thing

Think of monstro mara or ripsote slayer vs melee dps. Its boring to play and not fun to face against. Same thing with endlessly kiting/dotting/selfhealing shamans for example.

None of that would be interesting to watch on a tournament.

But if participants are forced to make more versatile and balanced builds that could actually be interesting.
