New to IB, are they any good at solo roaming at high rr? Do they struggle with WE/mSH?
They are decent at solo roaming. Witch elves mostly die, but certain high rr witch elves like Ganx or Advarka do far more damage than other ones, and can be difficult to deal with. They don't typically solo roam however, so if you encounter them they are probably in a group and you will die anyways as a solo. The typical solo witch elves tend to die fairly easily, though the better ones will simply stagger you and run rather than die once they realize they won't win.
Melee squigs are easy, especially since the nerf to their damage. Tanky yes, but not tanky enough to live. Not enough damage to kill you either.
Biggest survival issue is magic damage. You will have high armor and toughness, which makes physical damage fairly easy to fight against. But you only have a corp resist buff against magic (which you should pretty much always use, since it procs your 50% AA haste and almost every class has at least some sort of magic damage) and most magic damage from dangerous classes is spiritual/elemental. So Magus/Chosen are rough fights as both (when built for solo roaming) are quite tanky and do almost exclusively magic damage, and so they will tend to win. Dps Shamans are also rough fights because magic+heals+kiting=bad time for Ironbreaker.
If you want to solo roam, Ironbreaker is not a bad choice. It does, in my opinion, have some bad matchups against three of the common destro solo classes (Magus, DPS Shaman, Chosen) but you can still outplay them on occasion.
EDIT: @tactics suggestion. You're pretty much always going to be using Rugged, Ancestral Inheritance and Rising Anger. Maybe if youre in a dedicated six man, you can sub out rising anger because you get enough grudges from your OF. 4th tactic is flex spot. Punishing Knock is good in scs if you have no outgoing hdebuff. The 50% kd/stagger reduction is a good substitute for solo roam/scs where you have a lot of Witch Hunters or White Lions using their heal debuffs. If you do the non-trispec dps build, can use Greataxe mastery. Otherwise can use sweet revenge.
If you wanna go full dps spec, can use both greataxe mastery and sweet revenge, but its typically not worth it IMO. Not worth the tradeoff in survivability.
