Hey there, everyone.
I just made an account last night and will be installing the game shortly. I was hoping somebody could give some advice to me about the general state of the game. This could be classes, zones, active playerbase, and so on.
I played during live, and mained a Chosen named Jicharl. I cannot for the life of me remember my guild or server, but I did get occasionally recognized for my posts about my discord build on the forums back then. I really enjoyed my chosen, but I think I want to play something else.
Are some classes simply unviable? I liked tanking, and group utility is always a high plus for me. However, I like to do high damage as well so I wouldn't mind rolling straight dps either. I remember the leveling process being slow back in the day, and I did cheese/grind land of the dead on live. Would rolling a healer or tank be a slog to get to r40?
I also am thinking of going Order since most of my time was spent as destro on live. This complicates things some because I actually am more drawn to the destro themes/aesthetic and I did tend to like the destro side of the mirrors more, if only slightly.
Is it viable to be a front line WP healer? Fighting it out with the tanks and keeping them alive? I like the idea of 2h wp that gets in the thick of it but I would still like to heal.
Is single target ranged SH worthwhile? Most people seem to talk about melee SH more.
Tldr; I like utility/support but I am worried about grind. I would also enjoy some high burst damage, particularly ranged. I am leaning order over destro.

Re: New player
Play an Engineer or his destro mirror a magus.
You will have decent damage (they got buffed on RoR) and some nice utility to help your group. You can also be quite tanky. And you can lvl quite fast with them, due to AoE grind.
But as a former live player you should know about immuties and what they mean. So PLEASE take care of that

agree on magus/engi, overall start with dps classes especially if you have someone to heal you
