Crashing in Strumvall

The game closes itself without warning if I spend more than 2 seconds standing and interacting with anything in Strumvall, the empire town in the Chaos starting zone. I originally thought this might be because I didn't download the DirectX but I still crash if I cast a spell at any NPCs in that area.

What can I do to fix this?

Search for the thread replacing your audio file.
