Re: How to fix the new players?

The biggest reason why I, a new player, would probably stop playing this game after the hype has died down, would be because of the fear of my time being wasted. By that I mean, since this game isn't official, it can be closed down at anytime without notice and all my hardwork, time and effort would be gone. Unlike other games, where it's a potential they might shut down, I find it much more likely for a private server to go down. I mean, look at what happen to that private server for vanilla WoW.

Lesser reasons for why I might stop playing would be; - Phantasy Star Online 2 coming out soon, which comes with (IMO) *fun engaging combat, but also *cross-play functionality, plus also being *VERY unlikely of ever shutting down, so the fear of losing my progress is nonexistent.
- Constant updates. Even though the devs here (from what I know) have been adding to the game, I imagine its at a much slower pace with less content being added. I'm actually impressed the devs are adding onto the game instead of just having the original game up and running! Though without being able to make money through the game, they just cannot compete with other games in this field.

Lesser-lesser-is-not-even-a-real-reason reason; Chaos looks like humans. Keep in mind I'm new, but shouldn't Chaos look like monsters or demons?

People have attempted to propagate this fear for a very long time. We have also been running ROR longer than Mythic was running WAR. This honestly comes off kind of shitpost-y, and like you're trying to shill for PSO2 instead.

Well....the official servers of WAR closed down and everyone lost his characters... anyways i think my concept of the game is a bit different, when someone talk about his playtime like "hardwork"...well, for me my playtime is to make fun, never a work and never ever a hardwork.

What has the response for this fear been? Could EA, Mythic or Games Workshop not just one day decide to shut the server down?
That is impressive, kudos and I wish you many more years!
I can assure you that I am not shitposting, and if it seems like I am shilling for PSO2, its because MMORPGs are currently in a dry spell and any new ones, like BLESS or Astellia, have been incredibly underwhelming, while (IMO) PSO2 seems to be seated in a good place. Is it also not natural to talk about how a game in the same genre might impact another? For the longest time, every MMORPG was compared to WoW and now any hero-shooter, like Riot's new game, is compared to Overwatch. PSO2 is coming out soon and will be impacting other games, I shouldn't be expected to act like it won't happen :|

Fair point, but I don't imagine people would be all to happy playing this game for fun and then one day that fun no longer being there.

If you want to have a discussion about other MMO's in general, there are plenty of other places to do so on the internet that aren't going to directly impact our own playerbase. For this reason we typically shutdown conversation about other MMO's that would compete with our direct playerbase, and also don't allow "I'm quitting/leaving for X/farewell friends" posts for similar reasons. We have a responsibility for the general discourse on the server to remain positive, and while we can reply to fearmongering about our longevity, we can't abide a continued conversation about something so potentially damaging.

Players should have faith and awareness that our actions and responses to anything that might cause GW to see us as a threat, damaging their brand, or taking advantage of their IP is handled with the utmost respect and adherence to their IP Rights guide. This is not the same GW that existed 10 years ago who was more a legal team than game development. The current company is far more encouraging about players using their IP for fun, as long as it's not for profit. From the EA/Mythic side of things, well the studio that created the game closed up shop, and EA probably isn't all that interested in chasing down a free server using content from IP rights they can't make any money from anyway. The only thing they would get from shutting us down is a little bit more hate, and EA seems to be getting tired of their "Worst Company of the Year" awards. Either they don't know we exist, or they don't care, or they don't have legal standing to do anything about it, and all three are just as good for us.

I'm sorry if mentioning another game is damaging to this one, I only wanted to point out specific features I enjoy in a game, to maybe have them be implemented here, not to encourage people leaving.

I'm sorry if this is taken the wrong way, but is it expected of new players to have faith and awareness in something they just discovered? I mean, the fact the game has been up and running for this long is defiantly proof of your love for the game, but I, speaking for myself, have been let down so many times by game companies in recent years, I am no longer able to just have blind faith in a game anymore.
I'm actually surprised to hear that as I was under the assumption they were still that legal team that was stricter than Disney with it's IPs.
That last part about EA has me a bit uneasy, if only because its EA. They know no bounds when it comes to being the worst, even if they say they are tired of the title, they don't do anything about it. There is no line they won't cross, no depth they won't sink to and is honestly the sole thing making me worried about dumping hours into this game.
Also, thanks for the answer~

I have already gifted a couple of horses and thrown a few invites thier way. Getting out of t1 is difficult and entering t2 on a donkey isnt fun. So guys like myself who have enough spare gold dish out some talisman pots and mounts to the underprivelaged newbie. Help them complete hard pqs for havoc mayhem ruin ect bringing youre 84 rr main along to smack the hero will get them the gear. Larger guild with a lot of sub 40s should run guild only and alliance wbs so they can get a feel how things are done. Encourage discord use even listening as it makes the whole experience more rewarding. The main reason for people leaving is being left out in the cold make everybody welcome.

From an old veteran bring back life to war and make war great again.
