followed install instructions still require massive download

i followed install instructions still require massive download. when i boot up launcher as admin and read only removed i have to download a manifest and verify a bunch of art that take 20 mins and then i have to download about 170,000 files that take between 0.5 to 10 seconds each i have been down loading for 3 days and still have 150,000 files remaining. did i miss something or is this the way and i just have grit my teeth?

While I don't think there's a nefarious overlord behind this process, I too am experiencing it.

I download ed d the torrent from the homepage, installed and let my computer run all day while I worked to be able to play last night for about 2 hours.

The servers shut down and I exited the game, no biggie. I go to log in tonight to play a little on my new engineer and find the same situation. Downloading roughly 170,000 files, each one taking roughly 1 second.

Did I install something incorrectly? Possibly. My install directory is ..program files/ror etc. on Windows 10. I use the launcher to get into the game. Bot sure what is happening but would love some guidance!

after 3 hours after my original post i got to play it, created a character then had to log out. i tried in the afternoon and same thing still have to download about 145,000 worth of files. whats even stranger in my folder that said game is in is not getting any large are all the downloads so what am i downloading and where on my pc is it going?

if you follow the steps correctly, theres no way you will have 171k files to patch with the torrent. if you somehow got 171k files to patch, then you a) didnt get the read-only thingy off b) launched the RoRlauncher from some other place where you didnt have your torrent download. c) your torrent client still running and locking the files.

note. if you copy the torrent folder to program files or similar, you might get permission issue and the read-only thingy wont come off from that location. use C, D or whatever drive directly for the folder.



also to all who say that fix the installer. Its all bandwidth. and this server is run for free. the torrent is better option to not bottleneck the traffic. torrent is shared by people.

well A it even states in the RoRreadme file that the read me box will remain ticked after you untick it and that normal and C are defiantly not the problem i did move the torrent out of my ssd drive but in saying that the RoRlauncher is still in the same folder
