New Meta?

Whats up gamers, I havn't played this game in about 3 years I think. I was fully maxed back then but after inspecting players it seems like there is a lot more sets. I am too lazy to scrounge around to find info since it is hard to find online/find out about them through trial and error. I currently am playing IB (I might change) but for now I'm having fun. So what is the meta for a 2handed IB and/or full tank IB? Right now I have half conq/half beast lord. As of right now my plan is just to grind out oppressor and a sentinel soul to buy a better weapon then eventually work to invader's then sovereign. So I have a few questions: 1. Is this plan okay? Or should I do things in between that will be worth my time? 2. How do I even go on about this plan? Not sure what a sentinel soul is totally and whatever content is now here to get invaders/sovereign wasn't there before (something about scenarios during a last castle siege or something?). 3. What else should I know that changed in this game?

My whole goal is to just plan out what I need to work towards to eventually max gear again. Thanks.
