Hi ladies and gentleman.
I'm wondering what my stat priority should be and where I can best farm / buy gear at my current level (17)
Whilst I'm here I'm wondering if anyone has a good single target build that I can follow? I know I can always respect but it'd be nice to see what I'm ideally aiming for, I'm still a bit of a noob to be honest.
Thank you.
Medusid.

Re: (WE) Noob looking for gearing / build advice.
Hello there!
The priority for the Witch Elf along with its counterpart the Witch Hunter is Strength. The aim is the soft cap of 1050 Strength. So if you are not at 1050, then keep putting in Strength.
The gear that you are striving for is in the Open Realm vs Realm fights- the tokens you receive from those fights will be used to purchase your gear from here on out. The scenarios that you can que for will provide you with currency to purchase your alternative play style set, which means they put a priority on defensive stats. The issue with that is the classification of your armor is LIGHT ARMOR so your not really healing yourself to much with survival at lower levels using that armor.
I have spent many hours grinding both Open RvR and Scenarios. I have tried the defensive gear and offensive gear. I am a RR70+ Witch Hunter and once you get to that point and see how many emblems and medallions it takes to do that you will understand the effort I put into it.
The class is in a bad spot when working with others in warbands and scenarios. Simply because your damage output does not justify the liability you bring to the table with your armor and type of damage and what you need to do to inflict that damage. (get up close and personal to the back like- the protected back line.)
WITH ALL THAT SAID... Not every one really cares for warband play or even playing in scenarios. You can do a lot with pick-up groups and gear yourself all the way up to Vanquisher Armor and Solo que for forts or warbands to get the BEST GEAR. You also feel like a shark out in the world BY YOUR SELF. If you get the jump on some one and you have decent gear you can take out just about any class. (please note there are some very experienced and very geared players out there that you WILL NOT EVER KILL SOLO that goes for all classes trying to kill them.)
If you like to solo, then solo and you will have a blast. You will hit a very hard wall once you hit level 40 ( a lot of the class players quit at this stage) Try to get into conqueror gear ASAP and try to contribute to zones that are being attacked by killing solos, ganking, or getting supplies or taking Battle Objectives so you can roll on loot bags. It VERY EASY to solo in this game. You just cant do it in the end game content.
I would suggest you watch TheZabix on twitch he has videos of leveling a Witch Elf to RR50+ mainly solo. It took around 30-35 hours of playtime to get into conqueror gear and get your Genesis jewelery.

Thank you so much mate! This is absolutely what I needed and it's nice to see filthy order helping out a destro boi

Re: (WE) Noob looking for gearing / build advice.
HAH, we are both in the same boat and I assume any help you get is help we get for our class.
Just beware I will be hunting you in game, its literally in the name of the class I play....

Good luck and stick with it if you love it! For all the hate we get as classes a proper geared WH/WE is very scary to see in the field.

Re: (WE) Noob looking for gearing / build advice.
Heya! RR60+ WE here. I've been wondering if the defensive set is actually that bad at higher gear levels. Would the trading off of damage for more survival (as in armor, wounds, toughness, w/e works best) actually be another possibility? Just trying to see if anyone has had experience trying out a more defensive style WE where your damage will be lower put perhaps the fact you can outlast other classes while still whittling them down is something "viable" as compared to the usual glass cannon WE.KingGrave wrote: ↑Tue Apr 21, 2020 10:10 pm Hello there!

Re: (WE) Noob looking for gearing / build advice.
I am a WH, but again we are in a similar situation.
The idea of staying in the fight longer is very appealing to us because because of well, we die allot.
However, the idea of our class is to get in and get out with a kill. The defensive armor I believe is a little better in Ranked play because you make it a little bit easier for your healers when you are focused- but in a ranked situation you have to play your role. A DPS must dps, you cant rely on the team you must do the dps yourself while the tanks tank, the healers heal.
Now with that said, you have lower DPS and you are still in light armor. I am not sure if you have played ranked but you spend most of your time snared so now you have lower DPS you cant get close enough to really swift assist. That leads to the issue of the initial engagement.
I have come up with an idea that we may be a DEBUFF class. So as a witch hunter I have some very nice debuffs- but your damage is seriously impacted like 50-60k worth of damage in a full on ranked play scenario. The defensive armor then really helps your ability in choosing realm rank skills- so you can ignore futile strikes (lowers chance of crit%) or Dodge or parry because it is on your armor.
The ideal situation for my debuff spec with onslaught and defensive Genesis is that I can last long enough to call target, DEBUFF target. As you can see it is VERY NICHE and there are simply better options for it.
I have spent thousands of emblems/medallions in testing. I have spent hours with specs to get used to them and play. All I can really say is the agreed upon cookie cutter specs are agreed upon for a reason. It is truly the most useful and viable specs. Maybe the defensive SOV sets will work better, but the Offensive SOV sets are pretty dang good by them selves - so again it comes down to the initial engagement of the fight.
The easiest ranked I played with our team had 2 WH and Destro had 2 WEs. I focused the WEs and it was down hill from there because they focused our healers. We destroyed the Witch Elves and in turn the team fell apart because that was the whole DPS. So who would you want on your team as a DPS?
The defensive style assumes you kill while lasting longer, the truth is your damage output is so low you can not overcome the heals/gaurds- as you already know with your offensive spec and having to chop through that. The ONLY option for a defensive spec is to de-buff the target to even out the playing field while taking more damage in a longer sustained fight.
As a Witch Elf player ask this question: Who would you rather FIGHT and WHY? Myself being a Witch Hunter and your being a Witch Elf we are used to picking our targets and we know who and what we are capable of after several hours of play time. We may even be more intimate with our character because we tend to solo a lot.
I love my Witch Hunter, I really do. I also am very aware of how much we are replaced in the DPS department for a team as a MDPS class.

Hmmm I see, I see. Thanks for the hasty reply.
Re: (WE) Noob looking for gearing / build advice.
Dont give up on the class if you enjoy it. I know you have had some awesome experiences playing it if you are around RR60+. Some of those memories are the greatest and you cant get them on other classes.
Maybe if we all have meaningful discussion on the class other than "This class sucks! We Need Buffs!!" then the devs will take notice and try some things to help out theses classes.
Last night was one of the best gaming experiences I have ever had in any game, EVER. It was in C W as order and we were fighting against a bugged keep. (They would die yet respawn in the keep even though we were on the lord)
The GM got involved in the game during the siege... he took out the keep because of the crazy scenario that happened and then it was on to fort. On the way to for the GM told us to turn up game volume....well you had to have been there.
My point is, these game Devs and GMs play the game and are gamers like us. If enough of us provide some meaningful feedback we may get some love. In the meantime, dont give up on your class. I need witches to kill with my witch hunter.

Re: (WE) Noob looking for gearing / build advice.
Why would I EVER give up on the, in my opinion, most aesthetically pleasing and lore-rich class on a game I love dearly? ^^ I look forward to dueling you on the battlefields
I know some WH that have totally schooled me haha, only makes me want to play better
