Few questions about classes from a rookie.

Hey!

First of id like to say thank you to the ppl making this great game come alive again! One of few games that I really enjoyed playing for the fun pvp and just a good game in general!

So before i start to ask my questions heres my WAR history, started playing late game and played a Witch elf to lvl 35-36 iirc , also had a Black Guard at lvl 20ish and a DoK at about same level. But thats a long time ago.. So as you see not alot of experience in the game.

I am so busy irl that when I play I usually need to run solo in every game i play.. I love pvp, only do pvp. And thats where I intend to level.. Mainly I roam around solo and try to get some small scale action, not alot for siegeing . Also I am a pure melee player.. And best part is going 1v2 or 2v3 or similar , a challange is just sweet..

So been looking at all the classes and what to pick up.. What im looking for is basicly a class that can stand on their own pretty good.. If it has selfheals its just a awesome bonus.

First thought was DoK/WP , A melee healer sounds as good as it gets for what im after, but I cant remember if its possible to build what im after. Is it 100% heal or damage or can you make abit of a hybrid?

Second comes to mind is BG, Sword and Shield is simply cool, but how do they fare in soloplay?

And then we have Witch Elf / and the order version, I remember I enjoyed it but not sure how the state of the class is? Is it a pure glasscannon or can you build it other ways?

If there are some other classes you think would fit my playstyle I am all ears :)

Also how is the faction balance? Any of the sides overpopulated compared to the other?

Cheers Hjulstad

Marauder is a very strong solo class.... Was a very solo the class was imbalanced and had no downsides so we will see what happens when the devs balance the class down the line we I never played but if memories serves me they are still the awesome roaming solo pick off class

And Bgs are great roamers/duelers too with snb with dps spec and still have nice survivability

You should try aout all the classes and see wha works for you, after all that is purpose of the alpha phase

DoK/Wp should be ur first choice but a marauder would also work. The DoK can heal himself and is pretty damn good at surviving against multiple foes. The marauder on the other hand probably has a lil more burst dps than DoK and himself can survive very well in 1 on 1 situations.

If you can handle micromanagement, then I recommend trying out a White Lion.
You deliver the most burst DPS of any class, and this can help you kill squishies whilst soloroaming in 2/3 GCDs. You -can- beat DoKs/Marauders (though the DoK must make a mistake, most of the time), and most SNB tanks are pretty easy - provided you 'stance dance' (i.e. cycling pet debuffs, keeping armor debuff up, etc).

Added bonus, of course, is that you can essentially 'kite' any melee opponent.

Yeah WL is a very good class if played correctly. It's mostly the utility and versatility that makes them very good. Having a pet helps them dictate situations and put all classes in a difficult situation, such as choosing if to attack the WL or the War Lion. I remember as a DoK I would sometimes heal myself against the War Lion and then try to dps a kiting WL down after a while of chasing. With all that said, I rather you play on Destruction because the last thing I want is more WLs running around with their stupid looking pets. ;)

Rune Priest/Zealot are both incredible solo classes. OP single target (ST) healing, and self-rez at high level, later in T4.
When you switch your Rune of Breaking/HarbingerofDoom you get all stats either WIll or INT to your advantage, which makes speccing more simplified. Adding a few nice DOT's while in DPS can really help your team focus a almost dead enemie, which can be a crucial moment during PvP (trying to finish off those ranged and healers with guards).

GL, welcome

Thanks for all the replies. I have tested abit and found DoK to be best fit for me. I just got a small question.

Cant decide on WP or DoK ,

Does damage work as in other games, ex 2handed Hammer less dps But bigger burst/damagenumbers and Dual Weild swords more dps But lower burst?

Thanks for all the help

No NEVER, EVER EEEEEVVVVEEER use anything besides 1 hander + chalice/book offhand for DoK or WP playing with duel swords/2h hammer minght be all fun and clowny in T1 and T2 but trust me that free resource building from those off hands is too good to not use and in t3-t4 thats why dok and wp become the best healers (among other reasons)

Do they regen also while casting? Cant remember. If dont, then they are just a choice cause u gonna have to use Suplic/Offering anyways. I remember myself doing so with the book.

They become good healers due to the HUGE amount of AoE heals that they have at hand and the extra-defenses from gear-armour, mostly. Having two resouce pools for working the line its their main advantage, and they can do quite fine in both tasks. Remember that they are designed to be 1st liners and throw themselves in the mid of battle to heal. Other thing is if that way to play them is wisely passed t1, but they are supposed to be able, and they are actually. Lots of DoKs/WPs were DPSs in t4.
