We are painfully aware that a mature PvP oriented game is going to be difficult for new players to find their spot in, and that this will drive away casual players that feel the time investment to get established isn't worth it. However, that's what we are. Your sentiment isn't terribly uncommon. I would posit that the power difference from here and live was very much a consideration, and if you played the last year of live the power difference there was far worse. Most of the gear at ROR was intentionally rebalanced to be less of a sheer cliff when it comes to the power available, and a lot of wildly broken gear simply isn't present here. Conqueror level gear is a big step up when you first hit R40, it just takes a bit of time to acquire. It's an MMO at the end of the day, people who have time invested do so because there is power scaling and character development.Dwarni wrote: ↑Fri Nov 06, 2020 11:19 pm
And I know a lot of players that think the same and will probably stop playing because this painful grinding as fresh 40 just to be not farmed in under a second is not very fun at all.
But since I don't pay anything for that game and you invest a lot of free time in the development of this game I can understand that you do the things as you want.
We don't have any plans to raise that floor, but you might be missing some of the alternatives as a fresh 40 that have been introduced here. Beastlord quests/set gear and the epic quest weapons are a good start. Dungeon gear isn't dependent on renown and only needs a proper group to complete, they're only gated by completion of the sets, and the difficulty doesn't scale much. Ch22 PQ's have a very good set called Onslaught, but you need to get into a warband that runs them. These are things you would learn from an established guild.
If you stick around, there's lots of people who attest to being able to quickly climb through various different methods and getting into end-game competitive gear takes several weeks but is far from impossible. The path most people find is getting into RvR where a coordinated group can choose their battles and contribute in ways that are closer to guaranteed rather than rolling the dice in the pug scen. There's no matchmaking there, if your team is bad then it's probably a loss. If your team is good, keeping up with them might make you the liability. It's definitely the hardest path to gearing up, but it needs to be as it's the most accessible. Scenarios are unique as it's the only form of gameplay that are click-button-get-content. Everything else requires prep, or a group, or just running around in RvR for a while before you get that payoff.
