That's maybe the goal of ranked "competitive" matches isnt it ?
Get the min RR to spec well, get the min stuff to properly do your role in team, get the minimum tools (pots/absorb) to survive ...

Yes your wrong.
The point of being competitive is pulling yourself at the top because of your skill and because your mastering your class.
Not because you can "play" 10 hours days semi afk gaining your dailys rps on every zones lock, grinding your token etc...
I don't know how that compute with "competitive" pvp

What's you re describing are FPS ranked games system as Apex legend, CS:GO, Valorant etc and i agree with you. Same game, same skills, only cosmetic gain. I play those kind of games and i enjoy it.
What's you re missing is that RoR is an old school MMORPG based on rr ability gains and stuff grinding mechanic.
You just go wrong on "type of game".
What do you want ? insta 40/70, full BiS and ranked system ? (thats similar to the "special ranked armor set for everyone blablabla"). I may be wrong, another time, but i think there were this kind of server some times ago ? (who's not that popular nowadays...)

U talk about grinding stuff in the state of actual game ... As a 6men player u cant imagine how frustrating it is to be forced frming the actual "blobing" content doing cities... forts ... But i do it, even if i dont enjoy it, just to be able to perform well when i play with my guys in 6v6 encounters agaisnt good players. And here thats the way i enjoy the game.
Again, if you cant afford the stuff/rr by laziness or on principle (wich i respect) just dont queue ranked, there's plenty of other content you can enjoy in this game (or another)

For me I don’t play it as I don’t find it fun. To play ranked for me would completely ruin how I otherwise enjoy playing RoR. As a solo player ranked requires a grp spec to help others out, well solo spec doesn’t work in that environment. So hence I’m not gonna roam around solo in a grp spec waiting for a ranked match and get my arse kicked more than it already does in orvr. Then after waiting for that pop to A. Get farmed or B.Farm the opponents neither is fun IMO.

Then that's funny because just like me you pick your wrong game type, war is an old mmorpg you said.

The point is mmo does not compute with competitive pvp.
I would like to see rvr more as competitive pvp than mmo thingy.
You can call it pvp if you want but not competitive by any mean

People want too many rules for ranked. Ranked should be a place where we distinguish ourselves by playing with random players every time where luck is a big factor as is gear. I would love for the system to be something like GW2's instanced PvP but the amount of resources it would take away from other areas in this game simply do not make it worth it for me. The RvR campaign needs to be overhauled, forts suck, the shard and bag changes have only alleviated the grind for those who play the game all day, and class balance is out of whack.

For now we have to accept the system how it is, and see what changes the Devs will implement early 2021.

That said, don't queue as DPS if you're only in Vanquisher Gear

As healer i find it easy to get ranked, but i play mostly eu prime.
But not that motivated healing random people for no gear that i want or need.
Prefer doing the premade sc or just roaming with people i know. Hard to get people motivated to heal ranked when no reward

To me solo ranked sc design of just killing is quite boring, especially if everyone is full sov and it transforms into 10 mins of torturing finding perfect opportunity to get a kill.

Dont think its a desert, its actually quite opposite, just yest there has been 5 games going at same time, just need to play during prime time EU.
