I can tell you that 3 or 4 months ago Order had way bigger numbers than Destru (I was actually there, so I can tell).
About SH, a lot of ppl switched to order when Devs reworked SW. it's a pathological behavior, it happens every time a class get a buffs. With time ppl will switch back to what they were playing before the rework.
I have played for almost exactly year now since the start of lockdowns. When I started at the start of 2020 Destro had much larger pop, then Order had a period few months ago when they had 55% population on average after SW changes, which lasted about 2-3 months, now back to Destro pop advantage again. So 8-9 months out of 12 (about 80%) of the time Destro had population advantage last year.

Sorry I know exactly when I started playing, why would I lie lol weirdo . I recreated my account at the start as it was bugging out. Anyone who played at the start of the year knows that Destro dominated then, there is no point lying when anyone who played around then knows the truth

Re: Oppression, day after day
Oh I have another idea. Instead of removing skills, remove the "solo roaming on any class"-mindset. How is that?Gurf wrote: ↑Wed Jan 06, 2021 9:46 am Solo roaming as a Order MDPS is pretty depressing now with the lakes full of Shaman and SH. SH ranged knockdown should be removed, (as it should be from BW for balance).
Also there appears to be a locking down of the terrain which doesn't help the vast numbers of Engis Order has who get steamrolled in open fields #freetheterrain
Range kd is annoying? Sure, taste the experience of destro players since live. But we all know how to deal with it, group up.
It appears that most engis have to learn how to actually roam instead of sitting in one place endlessly.
Dying is no option.
Re: Oppression, day after day
Most Order's players have BiS gear already and thus they either switched to Destru or stopped playing. As soon new contents comes out Order will be outnumbering Distru again, don't worry.Topdude wrote: ↑Tue Jan 05, 2021 6:18 pm I know, another order complaining about realm balance. I've been playing this EMU since 2 weeks after live was killed. It's great what the devs have done and I continue to enjoy playing as much as possible.
But for the past (at least) two months I've been checking population on this site and also in game and it's painfully apparent to me that destro continually has bigger numbers. Lately I've been playing upwards of 10 hours a day over the past week. What I've seen is that order only has brief moments of experiencing greater populations, it's like Destro takes a lunch break or something, and then back to 60-200% aao.
Looking for a reason, wondering what can be done about it. Feeling it has to do with people preferring to play the dark side, and feeling it has to do with Destro careers being a bit OP atm. But, I also know that Order has a few problems.
First, I know most of the excellent WB leaders from a year ago aren't leading open WBs anymore. Tip of the hat to those that are leading these days, but most from a year ago were old players, very versed in the lake landscapes and focused on playing the zone mechanics. I don't know what has caused this but do know that some of these leaders have been called out in chats, which has gotten rather rude since the influx of new players happened.
Second, there's much more of a mentality of skirmishing rather than ranking and taking zones. Along with that is the solo mentality, the loss of playing as a group and the benefits that result by buffs and guards. Perhaps this is because of a drop in morale that order will have any success trying to build a zone when zergs of Destro will just zone in and squash us.
I only post these concerns because I feel that playing the zones, forts and city are integral to this game. It's RvR, not PvP that made this game epic when it was live and it's up to the devs and committed players to work to keep it that way. If I wanted to solo there are plenty of arena and other PvP games out there to play.
Anyway, just posting this to raise the topic, I don't see it discussed much, and to get others feelings about it.
Order pride!
About the skirmish mentality I think is due to Order's population composition. Lots of dps AM, Engies, rSW, WH and WL. These classes perform (or performed, perhaps) very well in solo and so most Order player don't group up. This, coupled with the pathological lack of tank and AoE players, created an inability to sustain prolonged fight. The only case where Order has the upper hand is in keep/fort fight (either attack or defense) and in skirmish.
At least that's how I see it. Also, the complaints about the new rSH are another offspring of Order solo mentality. Before the rework, Order had the edge, but now there's a new soloers predator

Re: Oppression, day after day
Currently in the process of downloading the game and taking a crack at it once again (man this process is abysmal its been like 3 days). I really thought of maybe playing order but all the time invested into Destru side makes me incapable of starting completely over on the order side. Knowing Xrealming exists still and all the stuff I don't care for is still around makes it harder and harder to "stick to a side" but like the live version of the game I really like the idea of just playing a single side.
I've got a new goal set in mind for my bg on destro side and will be hopefully motivated to complete it being a veteran player I might join a less knowledgeable active smol guild and show them a thing or two or just be a reliable resource in the community.
but back to a main point I never really could get invested into order because of simple things like:
-Capital city is just (lol) a dirty city and imo more of a travesty to navigate than destros city.
-The classes are human, elf, and dwarf while destro has big human, elf, orc and goblin.
-Elf and human both have horse mount and dwarf gets dangly-foot-copter.
-The clopping of horsey hoofs hurt my ears so much after long hours of play.
-there's more but I guess the main point is destro has a little more diversity going on.
Now when all is said and done, do I hate elfs dwarves or humans? (no)
Do I hate horses? (kinda, but not enough to sway the final say of what I choose)
Would I play order? (yes...)
but it sadly just kinda comes after my first choice, which is destro. And since I've got the realm pride (if thats still a meme) I actually kinda wanna stay put on one side.
I guess its not just one big thing that makes players play destro vs order but maybe a bunch of small things, is I guess the main point im trying to get across. And who knows if its even sound evidence that one side even out populates the other, I think a majority of people chase AAO so once things get to heavy on a single side they imbalance it so it favors their fuel for big purple numbers or the ability to have more targets to choose from.
But I guess just some off topic opinions on the matter, nice to see we still haven't strayed from whining on the forums when we get bored in game, oh boy I just can't wait to get in the game haha!

And ..yes rsh/msh / dps shame are a solo predators which are breaking a bit order solo fun life .... but still destro has huge egdge in group play (at least in mid level) and i dont see any real atempts to addres that.

Re: Oppression, day after day
You remember correctly

There's one more thing: when order dominated the lakes few months back destro were told to "git gud". After the forum drama destro actually got together, coordinated, worked hard and results started showing up.
When destro are dominating the lakes the response is tuning down des classes instead of buffing order ones - not to mention a little kick in the buttocks in the form of "git gud" would be very beneficial. I mean, over the past few weeks my shaman has been silenced six times, staggered five times, heal debuffed seven times - and that's more times than whole previous year combined. Playing as destro is slowly, very slowly transitioning from easy mode to actually having to pay attention to the battlefield and I really hope order will start thinking in terms of realm instead of solo classes and 1:1 mirroring.
One can dream..

Re: Oppression, day after day
The population is usually wavy and numbers depends on specific period after the new content release. Destro>order>derstro>order > boredom alts play - mostly destro (now influenced also by rsh changes). Its somehow dependent which "mains" main x-realming guilds want to develop first (i think after sov release it started from short order dominance period, im not sure i came back to game in may/june). But because currently you can count a number of big order guilds/alliances with fingers of your main hand you may expect what will be a shape of order after new content appears. Of course i see devs attempts to disperse population by force just by limiting access of destro wb-s to city, (even some destro well know leaders are looking for some skirmish at order now bc boredom) but it will not work and stabilise population in long term and thread like this will be published again and again again ( how many new version of thread "why order is what it is" we will see in future?)
