Apothecary --> stuck at 118?

Greetings All!

I'm leveling Butchering and Apothecary at the moment... and it feels like I've hit a wall here.
For the past 30-or-so minutes of farming ... and then taking momentary breaks to make pots, I can't seem to get my skill past 118.
Can't help but wonder if I'm missing something or just the victim of bad rolls.

I'm using a level 100 glass vial... level 100 main ingredient, two level 100 stabilizers (gores) and then one extender.
(Now, I was getting the "success bar" to the top with just two stabilizers for a while there, but I hit a similar "wall". It was only when I added an extender / filled the final slot, when suddenly, my skill started increasing again. This makes me wonder if I've hit a similar situation.)

How can I get out of being stuck at 118? Takes me a good 5 minutes just to get two stabilizers. To go 30 minutes without raising the skill even 1% is a bit annoying.

Sometimes you get that with crafting you have to make up to 50 pots/tailis before it bumps a level. For the 125-150 you could skill up on every try its just rng being a bastard.

You can try using better stabilizer, look on the auction house for Pristine Arboreal Resin, this is a by- product of Cultivating and you can get stacks of it cheep usually under 10 silver. I hope this helps.
