Serious balance issues in lower tier sc-s
Serious balance issues in lower tier sc-s
Okay so i got as far as having a level 30ish BO on the destro side currently in t2 and various order chars all still in t1. Gotta say the pvp balance in this game is absolutely terrible, easily the worst i have ever seen in any game ever. In the previous weeks i played around 100 sc-s and barely won 5 of them, in the rest we got completely destroyed without reaching anything above double digit numbers in the scores. This made me reroll order at first since destro in t2 was so unbearable, but oh boy did it stay the same in order t1. Idk if ppl farm this in premades or what but i win more in other games being afk than here. My problem is not even that an exact faction cant win a scenario in a tier for whatever reasons, its the fact that its not even competitive. I didnt experience a single match where I was like 'hmm this was fun even though we lost'. Now i cant speak for higher tiers since im quite new at this game, but in a pvp based game thats this one sided i never see myself getting there if i cant enjoy the process. Gotta say this kills the game for me (and im sure for other new players too), which i'd very much enjoy otherwise.

As you mentioned, you're a new player so my question to you is if you were queueing solo? What class were you playing? Were you purely focused on playing the objective and yelling at others for chasing kills? There's lots of things that affect scenario balance, it's telling that you experienced stomps on both factions and there's only really one common denominator.
Were you taking the time to figure out what went wrong? Was there something you could have done differently? Approached the situation differently?

Yeah, the scenarios are often very one-sided. Either you steam roll or get steam rolled. The balanced games where it is a fun and close fight are rather rare.
There are a lot of factors that come into play. The player skill, their gear, their level, the amount of healers/tanks/dps, the amout of afk players and so forth. The game cannot really balance these things out. Every round is different.
In t2 it is in general a bit worse because the level range is bigger than in t1. The bolster helps but cant even it out completely.
All you can do is getting well equipped for every level and team up with good players. Then you will win more often. Unless you are playing destro and meet my WP healer. Then you are screwed ;D
There are usually a least a few better players in each SC. You can see on the healing done and damage done at the end in the score board. Send tell to them and ask for group.

Re: Serious balance issues in lower tier sc-s
I'm not a great player, but I find myself doing quite well in SCs. I win more than I lose. I solo queue, and join parties.
Some tips:
1. avoid event scenarios, they are nearly always spammed by premades. So if you lost in ironclad a lot over the weekend, it was likely a premade spamming SC queues. Some people do this in T1 (which I think is pretty cheap tbh). You can leave the queue for certain SCs by right-clicking the icon. Certain SCs are terrible if you lose heavily. Serpent's passage and the citadel one in the current SC list. Leave the queue for ones you don't like.
2. Generally avoid joining as dps when solo queuing. You nearly always wait hours to end up in a party of like 5 other dps. In t1, and in order, join as dps once you are like level 12. Order is particularly bad for dps toons in t1. In t2/t3 join the solo queue at level 30+.
3. My other advice: go a healer or tank when solo queuing. Learn your role, and max your stats (wounds, armor, block, etc for tank / willpower and magic crit for healer). I find my solo win-loss ratio is much better if I play healer or tank.
4. make a premade yourself. Premades are not highly coordinated people in discord. Use /5 to get a simple 2-2-2 party (you dont need a full party, if you're a Black orc find a choppa to guard and a healer, and join with them). Even in t4, a bunch of rr40-50 people in a well balanced party can give an unbalanced rr80+ party a run for their money.
5. Take a look at names if you lose heavily. if you find yourself playing the same group over and over, stop queuing the SCs and hit the lakes.
6. Dont worry too much about winning or losing, worry about your performance. As a tank you can get 2 extra emblems playing objectives and guarding well. As a tank, max your defensive stats, block is particularly useful. Follow around a mdps if they are there, and charge the enemy punting anyone healing.
7. If things are unbearable type .surrender in the text box

Hard to believe, that you only won 5 out of 100 but let's assume it was the case, can you imagine why you lost?
Dying is no option.

FWIW so much stuff in RoR is very poorly explained, including the whole meta and expectations around SCs.Sulorie wrote: Wed Mar 17, 2021 2:12 am Hard to believe, that you only won 5 out of 100 but let's assume it was the case, can you imagine why you lost?

You lost on both factions => how this means that there is any kind of balance issues?

Re: Serious balance issues in lower tier sc-s
Let me explain you why, scenario que work like this: it priorities parties before solo que players so what happens is when a 6 man party que for scenarios they instantly create a match for them and the moment they que if there is no other premade in the enemy que(which usually is the case since other parties get in scenarios so fast they barely wait in the que) they instantly get matched with random solo que'ed pugs, this happens constantly resulting premades pug stomping with the occasional miss match every 5 scenario they face other premades. So the point is get a party going either duo or 6 man for faster scenario pops. IF you want to win more of those try to create/join a 2dps-2tank-2heal 6 man party. Thats your only option
