Why the (gear) grind?

Im torn on this. While no gear grind is great for balance. Its great when you get some new gear drop specially if its something you really wanted. Like Akire.

I think we all get that we need to grind gear (like when it was like we grinded gear by grinding people) But this game was never about pve it was about grinding for gear as you do pvp/rvr thats why people loved the game, NOT doing pve and grinding for gear (only time that happend was for totvl and vale FOR pvp and lasted about 1-2hr's max)
People loved this game for the pvp killing people doing rvr to get gear not doing pve (i know when i played i did no pve till i hit lvl38 to get carryed thro totvl or get on my main and carry people in totvl that was about it and i had all the gold i could ask for by selling stuff on the AH and i was rr100.........HAVING FUN, T4 is what its about

Grinding :

lvls, renown, gear, titles, unlocks, mats, appearances ...

These all things actually matters. Sure, for some its enough to just log in, head to rvr
For some it actually matters to spend X hours a week grinding mobs or travelling through areas, doing epic quests for alternate appearances to look unique or just for unlocking crappy pve sets, spending X hours in empty zone killing mobs to get mats and then supply friends with talis or potions ...

Without these things we could all have insta r40 rr80 with all gear, unlimited potions, talismans, mounts, unlimited gold but I kinda find it boring as hell cuz it would remove so many aspects of the game I have enjoyed and loved so much. I had even spent X hours doing PQs to get Ruin set on my IB on offi not cuz I needed it but cuz it was the first solid gear when I was playing the WAR for the first months, then running on all my alts to get alt appearances etc.

Usually (Im not pointing fingers on anyone at all) these players who complain about gear, gold, potions, high renown etc. are players that would love to login, head straight to rvr and wreak havoc. And when they are killed by players with higher rr, in better gear, with potions, pockets ... they complain how its no fair but they fail to see these players spend X hours grinding to improve their characters, they spent X hours doing these boring things I have described instead of fun in rvr.

Unless the gear is main factor, there is no problem with grind. Sure, when u have lets say lvl 30 in lvl 20 green gear and you are smashed apart by conq player...thats ok.

I am not fan of endless farming, but farming for gold or items in this state of prealpha make me feel I must do something to gear up. If there will be option to buy WoE gear from Merchant It will get boring fast. Anyway WoE gear is not that much better than lvl 19greens. Yep it has little advantage like 3dps on 1H weapon + few more stats, but its nothing huge. As far as I remember Set items were much better than blue ones and pair with the purple ones which are far better than Woe.
My conclusion is dont bother with WoE and enjoy the game the way You want(PvP/PvE). Because in next few months there will be patch which increase level cap for T2 like it was in T1, so all Woe will be worthles

Please do not blame people for choosing their aspects of the game, and again...dont get me wrong.
I play RoR and played WAR for the RvR, the WARHAMMER Story at all, even when its PvE, doesnt matter to me.
Blaming people for grinding in IC...hmm what about them grinding for silver/gold and trash loot to sell, because mounts are expensive. Even gear loot for the AH.
Sure, I am also at the opinion, that gear-drops in RvR are easier to get, and its the main-soul of the game.
But at the moment, last couple of days, RvR lake is dying out because of teh immense lag.
There is no real fights going on at keeps, because zerg vs zerg => 30 sec. lag...

It will fix soon, for sure.
Also gear-grinding will be obsolete at some point in the future and it will be the RoR (W.A.R.) you all wish to have.

They are doing fine, but seem to be busy IRL. The ones i used to group with are not playing atm (Brett and Ave). Vengum just returned last week i think. Alex is by far the most active one, with several lvl 20 alts already (i have 4).

Are there not already vendors in IC and Altdorf? You can get Conquest gear that is pretty darn good, the only thing that you can't get is the back cape. Everything else you can get at the auction house for 20 to 50 silver.

A lot of players I know from old WAR usually run in blue and purple mix...

Im not supporting grind, Im just trying to point out grind is an option, no1 force you to form grind party and farm gors.
Im afraid where these "grind is bad" talks would lead. Like in old WAR where u got no-exp book, pve exp farm GoE, one currency for everything with so laughable cost and requirements? Locking empty zones...? A lot of these things started usually as good ideas and then turned out to be complete dissaster.
