Why the (gear) grind?

Hear me out.

The kind group of volunteers who got this game back up & running are not being paid.
We don't pay a monthly subscription.
This great MMO was remembered, and well-loved, for its awesome ORvR & SCs, not PvE.

So... why do we need to grind for gear?

Chat is spammed constantly with players selling/trading Woe gear. So I guess a lot of players are busy grinding somewhere and not in the PvP lakes.

So why not make all (decent) gear purchasable? 1gold a piece and same with mounts. Why 15g? Why are they a gold sink? Why is it important in a F2P game?

I know A LOT OF PLAYERS are gonna hate this idea: "...why should everyone else be able to pay for Woe gear, when I macroed my character for days on end to get this gear!?!?!?"

Tis a bit silly I think. Most of us have day jobs and coming home to grind is not my idea of fun. I wanna level up in the RvR Lakes. I'm on my 4th alt to R20. I don't mind the player level progression, but grinding for gear is pointless in this game's situation.

Rage away...

Because someone cant add this gear to vendor for all.
Also rvr still too much bugged + server lags.
And dont tell to others that they need to do. If u want rvr - go to rvr. If someone want farm - its their choice.

For a few silver you can buy green Pve stuff ( which is not much worse than Woe gear) in the AH.

And there are item drops from players now.
Pretty much always afk or tabbed out.

You like to do RvR, go find your gear in RvR. It drops from there. I actually got all my blue gear from RvR/Sc kills..

And btw. most of us have a job or going to school, so you are not the only one who are doing something. You just want it the easy way...
does it depress you to know just how alone you really are?

MMOs are the only genre where you're expected to pay in money (while not playing) and time and boredom (when you are) in order to compete.

Grind, as defined by doing what feels like actual work to get gear, isn't desirable. Working towards a goal in a game should be fun. The ideal is to have the gear as a motivator for players to do fun things (like big RvR) instead of having them farming freaking mobs.

This issue hasn't escaped my notice, but sourcing the current server issues must take priority over everything else, including incentives to RvR over grind.
