Mostly physical dmg though, right? So, potentially more gear dependent than SM?
4 Rare Fortune + Grimshimmer Chest + 150 pilfer/300absorb 2H is great choice for both with 80hp regen pocket + Defiance liniment that gives another 80 hp regen every 4 seconds. It also gives -10% Critical dmg reduction that works nice with IB's Seen it all before tactic(-15% crit dmg) and those make Trivial blows very nice even if you take -24% crit dmg reduction (30 renown points) it would total 49%- crit dmg redu on IB. Also IB has armour tactic, combine it with 2 ruin or 3 red eye makes a noticable difference. 5 Beastlord is very good for 2h IB and super easy to get. ws, str and 5 % parry. on other hand SM is fvkked on that front because SM gets the useless WS as well (also with vale-walker which would be amazing otherwise because jewelry has 48 health regen, ffs goddamn copy-paste set bonus annoyance) So it depends what/how you play on who is harder to get gear for.

RoR.builders - Sword Master This with 4 rare fortune + grimshimmer chest + pocket + defiance + 150pilfer/absorb 2H gives 500 hp regen(counting the tactic) + 150 healsteal + 3 absorb shields which all are passive bonuses as well

I have tried to look on the wiki and in general, but I can't find info on how to get Grimshimmer. Where/how is it available?

It’s in Saphery. Not sure of exact coordinates, so hopefully someone can help there. But there is a sprite running around. Kill the sprite, use the key, and portal opens up. Mob that drops the chest pieces is through the portal.

SM and IB are both good, so just pick whichever you fancy :)
Knights with reflect spec can be pretty annoying during 29-31 with bolster. The damage has been fixed a bit so it won't perform as well now.

Every class shines when 29-31 because above sove level stats=) imo would be soo much better it maybe it was at least vanquisher lvl set and you keep that bolster before rr 55 r 40. Or at least give fresh lvl 40 at least liniment amounts of iniative/wounds 60/60.

Any class is capable of solo-play. However if you want to run an Order Tank run a 2H SM as they are the most fun.

Fun is subjective, they are both capable in solo using regen items & abilities. IB ''may'' have a shot at killing shamans( punishing knock) and SM will be effective against armored targets.

The reason i personally rate SM higher is their ability to be useful in rvr/ groups and larger zerg fights with a 2-hand build, whispering wind and wall of darting steel are tools unfortunately 2-hand IBs can't compete with and M1 wings of heaven is indeed fun(in certain spots you can jump on keep walls and join mdps infiltrating * hush* ;) ). If however scenarios is your game then 2-hand IBs got the advantage (SM lacks punt).

P.S Ibs can also be effective in larger zerg fights but it requires a SnB approach, 2-hand ib will melt quickly in the frontline without wall of darting steel. SM is simply more versatile in the current state of the game with solo gearing/approach in mind, it can adapt fairly well to any given situation without having to change setup completely everytime(gets tiresome quick, believe me) and due to low population nowdays and finding - especially if not eu timezone- those precious ''duels'' this is worthy a mention.
