New player with limited time. Team based or mostly solo pvp?

As the title says I'm a brand new player. I've read through the forums trying to get a better understanding of the game and I have a question that will help me decide how I want to progress in RoR.

I have limited time to play (2hours at most ~ 4 days per/week maximum). Also my playing hours are all over the place which means that many times I will be playing at low populations so joining a group might not be possible.

Should I concentrate on team based pvp and classes considering these factors? Will I still be able to contribute as a tank for example even if I will not always have the time to join and play with a warband? Would I be better off playing a class that is more independent and better at solo gameplay?

For the record I have decided on playing Order and the classes I'm considering are Kotbs, Sword Master, WH possibly SW. Not too keen on healers. I like the idea of Iron Breaker but the number of abilities and their confusing mechanic might not be ideal for a completely new player.

Level and tank and a dps. People are always looking for tanks so you should find groups at most times but its good to have options especially if you like dps as well. There are a lot of guilds out there who have fixed wbs times that dont mind if you dont make every sessions also.

I know you said you aren’t keen on healers, but shammy/AM give you the best of both worlds when it comes to a situation like yours. My ability to play (time and erratic schedule) is very similar. I leveled tanks and “traditional” healers on both sides (chosen/KotBS and zealot/RP), but then I got fed up with feeling like my play time was being taken up by trying to find groups. So, I rolled a shammy and AM. When groups are going, I can run as a healer, but when people aren’t available (or I’m feeling antisocial from my past round of healing pugs), I can still play those same toons as solo roaming DPS. Just something to consider.

That sounds like a good solution. I'not entirely opposed to playing a healer it's just that I never played this role before and I'm worried that I will be useless while learning the mechanics. How hard is it to learn AM heals? Should I get specific addons to help me heal?

agree 100% am/sham will be best choice if you play on playing very limited time and cant form group

for a new player download vinyui from addon section of forum as you get more familiar with the game you can start disabling what you dont want or add more

Finding a pug warband at any time of day is not too hard. Then if you join a fairly active NA and EU guild you'll have some people to play with at most times. Solo isn't a great game mode for most people so i wouldn't build around that, although ive started with my SM and working on a WH alt due to just getting bored with pvdoor. You could level your tank for WB play and WH for solo.

Don't go too fast, T1 can be fun so take it all in.

All tanks are solid choices for any play from solo to small scale to orvr. I find SM and IB super fun and effective. SW is at weird spot now, but that might be just me. Havent gotten really comfortable flow going on with SW after Range changes with other stuff. WH is super nice for solo and small scale, check Mdpv video's to see what the best players can do with it.

I would do alot of scs espesially if you choose tank so you can learn who to guard and what is the role you are there to fill. 1 good tank or healer can really be the difference between getting your ass kicked vs getting good fights and winning=)
