Re: Sorc/BW Bombing

The big nerfs were No stacking of pit of shades on ground, close quarters nerf (-25% damage). All AOE spells damage coefficients were reduced by like 20-25% on top as well.

To answer your question, it stopped most people from easy mode bombing but I was in good organized groups that continued on through organization. We ran with 2 groups each with a sorc and choppa. We would wait until we had morale 4, which was easy to get, even in scenarios. Then 1 sorc dropped the specced for the 7 second morale 4 root which was unbreakable, and the other sorc specced into the 100 foot ranged 20 foot 7 second aoe silence morale 4 to shut down clumped healers.

We just pre-dotted with chillwind, icy spikes, applied the morale 4's, then went in to disastrous cascade. With the new Close Qaurters, it made shattered shadows (the ranged AOE) a 1.5 second cast instead of 3. Since the spammable AOE Surging Pain was nerfed to not build up dark magic, all you had to do was alternate it with other spells to go from 100, to 80, to 100, to 80 dark magic. It was still usable.

So you go in and hit Distarous Cascade (the channeled PBAOE), Surging Pain, 1.5 sec Shattered Shadows, Surging Pain, then Infernal Wave spam. With the tactic Never Ending Agony, Infernal Wave's Cooldown was reduced to 5 seconds :) . The Sorcs have called in vent for the 2 choppas to punch Chop Fasta, which reduces your party's cooldowns by 5 seconds. This means Infernal Wave is now insta. As our root began to break and people are fleeing for their lives, the 2 sorcs nuke everyone with Infernal Wave frontal cones on spam, while choppas add in their AOE and the rift magus piles on as well.

It was a fully functioning bomb group reducing city warbands to vacancy after 5 minutes, and worked fine in RvR for flanking keep sieges or other large scale fights. It was great in scenarios as well. The Chosens spammed the AOE debuff that made all spells non-defendable with non-defendable talismans in their weapons, and every member of the 12-man ran Kamen Ra, so nobody had any Action Points to fightback, CC, or heal as there was no hidden immunity for how often they could be leeched.

The real end to real AOE bomb groups was server merges and player population dying, including our own rosters.

Word of Pain and Boiling Blood are no longer able to proc anything. The Bright Wizard College has confirmed this is a big deal. (stealth nerf)

Actually this was exactly what I was thinking about. Do you think this would have been possible for BWs? They lack Infernal Wave and the tactic which reduces its cooldown. I see ressource struggle there.
The extensive differnces between BW/Sorc make me think which class was actually better in both RR100 and RR80 environment.

You can spec so your flame breath has no CD and thus allowing to build up comb in 5 GCD while you know charging enemies or waiting for charge order. If my memory serves i was running something like this on my old BW (Raglena on KN)http://waronlinebuilder.org/#career=bw; ... :3539:0:0:

Main dmg was coming from Anihilate and Fiery Blasts mixed with occasional SE and 1/2 RoFs tics . Flash fire procs are plentiful when facing semi organised groups (didn't really matter with pugs) so you can get Blasts on the move. Timed correctly with other insta AoEs you could create nasty spikes due to flight times. So ye it was doable. And resources on BW were the least of your problems - neither AP (wp tac or own + pots) or Comb (Fiery Reserves)
