Any effort to improve AI?

It's been many years since I've played RoR so I figured I'd jump in and give it another try.

To be honest the AI being so horrendous completely turned me off from even trying to level.

I understand It's a PvP game & a lot of other stuff probably have a higher priority to long time players but as a new player it's just a Major turn off.

The starting experience for someone that's never played or has any clue about the PvP yet is greeted with just a atrocious world to interact with. It's a very bad look & I don't see why many new people would stick around if even the basic AI doesn't function.

- Moon walking
- Weird pathing
- Not facing you
- Not interacting at all

Has there been any discussion on whether or not the AI will ever be worked on?

The not facing you issue I believe is something to do with high FPS breaking animations. I've had it happen when running at 100+ fps players and AI would run backwards or turn into spider monsters. Pathing afaik is generally ok. Only time it goes weird is with pets and sometimes bosses.

And it looks weird but honestly it's not that much of an issue. And the AI does function, but it doesn't function flawlessly. IMO it's at that point where it's "good enough". There are more important features being worked on and need to be worked on over an overhaul to the AI. And no, as far as I'm aware. There have been no discussions about the AI because most people seem to not have an issue with the AI.

Try switching to the 32 bit version.

Not interacting (not moving when hit) is sometimes a lag fix issue either on your end or server, it does seem like the server has recently been a little more busy.

+1 , this fixed the animation problems I was experiencing a few years ago when I came back to this game.

- Moon walking + Not facing you

you need to cap fps to 99 or use war.exe instead war64.exe (the only diff between the two is the uncap framerate and by personal exp the first it lag a bit during fight), you can also use alternative v-sync or nvidia analog setting to stop these behaviour if using the war64.exe (normal v-sync wont work).

- Weird pathing

pathing it has not been implemented fully in game but for what i know is has been worked on and it is on, at least partially, in dungeons.

- Not interacting at all

idk what you mean with this, could also be a data problem, re download the whole thing if the above wont fix it.

Given the described behaviors, how do you tell the AI apart from the majority of the players ...
