And the rewards only cosmetics and achievement s.

This is the new wave amd this is the good way.

This is a great idea <3

  • go and play league of legends then ffs

Judging from the amount of players I see still playing I guess they have. Here we are on a Saturday, at 11ooam CST , which would be 600pm Euro time, ATM we have 638 online. A few years ago we averaged from Jan 2016 all through 2019 on a weekend 1200 to 1500 players on line at this same time. This was before the Lazy Peon population Surge that went to 3500, before they all decided to leave as well.

I don`t play SC I have no interest, last one I even bothered with was in 2018, I`m here to RvR, and siege Keeps, as I`m old DAOC player, and played live all 4 years, and been here on an off for last 7 years. there are many games that have instanced pvp capture the flag mini games, almost every MMO out there, but only a handful have Castle sieges

Making gear not matter universally is the fastest way to kill the game I can think of.

The only argument for this is maybe a gear template for ranked, but even then you are cutting into different builds.

For instance , WE needs the 6 p sov and they can run either a 3 piece for more wounds or the 9% armor pen with helm and onslaught glove.

Gear acquisition isn’t even an issue right now, renown is. I had 6 p sov at 70 on my WE. No idea why renown was nerfed to begin with.

We doesn´t need 6 piece sov. Almost all play with not more or less than 5 pieces.

They put so much effort into ranked, I would like to see them try normalized gear. It may actually be what that game mode needs to get a lot of people trying it.

Everyone would agree this is the way to go. I think it´s just to hard to implement for them to acually do it.

WAR AoR was always designed around large vertical progression.

It was one of EAMythics biggest mistakes with this game, but it is one that would be extremely difficult for the RoR devs to fix. It would require a complete rework of progression and itemisation, not to mention rebalancing every single mob in the game.

So, whilst I can understand the OPs problems with the situation, I don't agree with the solution: gear neutral instances.

Gear - or more importantly, the choices we make about what gear to wear - is a big part of the roleplaying experience. It is one of the main ways that we get to interact with our combat roles. Do I want to be a burst or sustained DPSer? Do I prefer avoidances or mitigations? Should I sacrifice some healing power in order to get more run speed?

By removing gear in order to get a gear-neutral PvP instance, you are removing too much of the roleplaying for my tastes. It may work - it may even be fun! - but it's not something I would choose to waste dev resources on.

One day, we'll get an MMORPG built entirely around horizontal progression, and then we'll be properly happy! Not only is horizontal progression better for MMORPGs in general, for a PvP mmo specifically it is practically necessary if you want a large playerbase. Vertical progression simply always results in veterans eating their young, cutting off the blood supply of new players.

Well they need to do SOMETHING to save the game. I recently had a guild that moved over to RoR. About 12 solid PvP players. About 75% of them enjoyed SCing to 40 and once the reality of the grind and MASSIVE gear imbalance hit they either quit or stay in T3.

It’s really hard to get people excited to play RoR when the weekend SC event is dominated by high gear premades. Like the kind of fights where you don’t even get to cast a spell or two. Over and over.

The weekend warfront is quite possibly sweatiest game mode around. Unique weekly rewards and a massive RR boost. If you can't compete in it then you can just not queue and do other scenarios instead...

Lol.

Getting gear is so much easier now than in the past... Yet you people moan over and over to make it even easier or to lower people that spent years on their toon to be brought to your level.

Pathetic.

If you dont want gear progression, time investement in your toons and "i feel bad cause after 2 weeks in game i am not as strong as someone playin over year" maybe you should quit mmo and go for moba instead???

The devs doing their f****ng best to make the game EVEN better and people be like ,,make gear for everyone - start with rr80 - will someoe think about the noobs? I love RoR and its in the best state it ever was!
