Pock, Raker and Seesers
Pock, Raker and Seesers
What was that thing about this game having a balance based on rock paper and scissors? Like, who were which again? Anyone kind enough to remind me, I'm genuinely confused. Thanks.

Rock is whatever you're playing at the moment, paper is whatever class just killed you because it's OP, obviously, and scissors is the class you play on the other faction that is only underpowered when you play it

DPS beats Healer
Healer beats Tank
That is the "usual" rock-paper-scissors method of balancing the trinity roles in an RPG. Sometimes works, usually doesn't. Often undermined by the fact that most people play DPS.

Re: Pock, Raker and Seesers
Some form of rock paper scissors is often basis of RTS games but I don't know if the analogy makes sense here or at least you have rethink what is what in r-p-s scale at any given time since same classes can counter each other in different situations. For example in 6vs6 eternal citadel sc where theres very little room to kite, supported slayer has advantage vs supported sorc. Lets say its 2-2-2 on both sides with double slayer vs double sorc in EC. Assuming other things equal (skill level of players most importantly) SL team has an advantage. Now in 18vs18 Battle for Praag it's probably other way around and double sorc team has advantage as long as their teammates can form a solid front line which sorcs can hide behind and comfortably assist-nuke slayer team.

As others noted, a lot of the counters in this game exist around your class / team vs enemy class / team, the area you're fighting in, and goes even further with how each of you have chosen to spec out your builds.
But generally, if you list a class or specific build you find remarkably hard to beat, someone can probably write out a counter for it on the other side to help.

Thanks for all the replies. As a side note, reacting to Zxul's example: I thought I had heard that thorns spec weren't as effective anymore?
