I call it lack of leadership.ravezaar wrote: ↑Mon Oct 23, 2023 2:05 pm Yea I can agree Zerging needs to be broken up and PvD shouldnt be rewarded but Iam strongly against large scale kill-trading as the main Guilds and even pug-WB do most if not every evening EU time. I call it kill trading tho most call it WC-Farm but to be its the same, standing in one spot for hours not doing anything useful other then farm crest from each other aka Santuary of Dreams, Caledor Bridge near North Keep in Reikland I can go on and on.
If we can get a slight increase in drop rate in other areas then what I mentioned then iam onboard, otherwise no.
This is my opinion tho and yea its a player behavior issue more then a Dev issue

Re: War crest gain too low
It's an interesting point. Honestly I feel that by RR80 through normal play most people buying sets as they level should be able to afford full SOV by the time they hit RR80. Sadly that's not the case for most people. Combined with the fact that people are skipping multiple gear sets in favour of PVE sets because they want to save crests in order to afford SOV by RR80.. It makes all the sets in between pointless.

Unlike what's happening now with people quitting in droves around rr70 or stopping to play a week after getting BiS cause they got burnt out by the grind and doing the exact same thing again on an alt is excruciatingly tedious and boring you mean?githappens wrote: ↑Mon Oct 23, 2023 12:24 pm ...but if you make crest drop faster, then you may get total opposite of what you want. People will get those "alternative pieces" and "different looks" faster and will have less motivation to log-in. People are goal driven.
How about making ranked 6v6 and 24v24 cities worth playing so there's an endgame instead? The current gear grind is just a bandaid that only made the already small pool of content in the game smaller.
They done stole my character's names. Can't have **** in RoR.
Re: War crest gain too low
I got my full offensive set with the ranked ring on my Witch Elf when she hit rr82.
Dont know if thats bad or good prob bad.

Hey Fluff, interesting topic.
For the experimental of having different gear sets and not just saving up for main-role sove I do agree. And i wonder if obtaining one set inside a ward-tier and then making the other sets in that tier having a notisable discount would be a suggestion to make, what do you think?
So in the case you get the Invader ward from Bastion Stairs Bloodlord set, but also wanna buy the invader set, then it would be X% cheaper.
This could also help the issue of if a class or role dont get any decent set bonuses while saving their crests from 1-80 and they still want to get Vanq set for a placeholder pvp set till sove, but the cost of 1300 crest seem too steep. Then they could get their wards in pve, get vanq with discount and still experiment or mix more options will pushing for sove. More dopamin milestoles in the grind.

Re: War crest gain too low
Doing PvE to get all my wards and only spending crests on BiS gear, I was around 15k crests short of what I needed to buy sov/triumph(BiS) when I hit rr78 (the level you can wear it). Alternative gear sets or weapons? Forget about it.
Re: War crest gain too low
I'll say the same thing here as I do whenever this topic is brought up:
Make PvP armour sets purchasable for gold, not crests.
This would alleviate sooooo many of the problems with the crest grind. It would allow us to buy multiple sets of armour, so not only can we genuinely experiment with main and off-sets, we could also have multiples of the same set, just with different talismans. This would then hopefully stimulate some of the crafting scene.
Players would still need to grind renown to be able to buy the sets, so there is still significant investment from players. Additionally, this change isn't absurd: it actually brings the game inline with how it was towards the end of live (iirc, I could buy everything for gold except sov set).

Re: War crest gain too low
i agree, reached rr80 now and still miss 3 endgame gear pieces despite using pve to save wards. also creating an advantage for gearing via pve in a pvp focused game is a decision i dont fully understand, but maybe i miss smth so i wont judge.
btw maybe thats only me, but id love to play more classes if it wouldnt take so much time to get them into great gear. my playtime would surely go up, if alt-gearing-friendliness would be increased in some way. nonetheless i still enjoy ror the way it is

Tbh both 6v6 ranked and 24v24 are broken and will be broken. Game is mostly balanced and designed around oRvR.Nefarian78 wrote: ↑Mon Oct 23, 2023 3:47 pmUnlike what's happening now with people quitting in droves around rr70 or stopping to play a week after getting BiS cause they got burnt out by the grind and doing the exact same thing again on an alt is excruciatingly tedious and boring you mean?githappens wrote: ↑Mon Oct 23, 2023 12:24 pm ...but if you make crest drop faster, then you may get total opposite of what you want. E.g. stuff thats good for 6 man roaming isn't often good for 6v6 and stuff thats good for oRvR WB may not be as good for City. At least for average player.
Re: War crest gain too low
The pacing on crest gains seems to coincide pretty well with hitting RR80 atm. My latest character to get to full Sov (my WH) was able to get there at RR79 and I purchased every RvR set along the way i.e. no PVE at all.
That said, the OPs point about experimentation is very valid. Anybody new to the game is being asked to make a very big commitment as to how they want to play for a very long time as they push to Sov and since Sov armor can completely change the way you play it is easy to get it wrong.
For example, those +2 points for 6-piece Sov opened up several new options for my Swordmaster. I actually went def Sov first and did some piecemeal stuff for putting together a 2hander build. But when I finally grinded out enough to get the offensive Sov it was like a "holy crap" moment for the stuff (read fun) I'd been missing.
I wouldn't be surprised that for ever person motivated by the gear grind for a second set of arm there is more than one who says "screw it, I have better things to do with my time."
