[Craft Skill] Does the character need to level to increase tradeskill

I am wondering if can you sit one character at level 1 and feed him items from a higher alt to gain Craft skill increases to max craft skill

Or does the character also need to level to increase craft skill limits?

You can max 200/200 at lvl1. Though you can get to level 5 in about 15 mins which would also let you send tells and use chat.

you can be lvl 1 and lvl 200 in crafting no problem. Most people get to lvl 5 though to protect the character from inactivity etc.

I'm gonna say it depends on the craft skill.

Butchering and scavaging require you to personally loot an enemy, so I don't see how you could level either of those two skills to 200 without also leveling up your character.

For all the other craft skills, sure, you can just send stuff to your alts in order to reach 200.
