My experience as a new player

When Warhammer online was released, I was a poor highschool student who couldn't afford playing the game. Unfortunately by the time I became stable enough to afford it the game already died. I heard about RoR by pure luck from watching a YouTube video. So I'd like first to thank those who are involved for their work for bringing back this game.

I played about 3 hours as warrior priest and let's say maybe because I was unlucky but I didn't have a great experience.

I started off doing the first chain of quests which do a good job introducing me to the mechanics of the game. One quest asked me to participate in a public quest which sounded awesome. The next quest was to beat the boss of that quest, ok cool. I did the public quest the first time with other players, somehow the quest about beating the boss didn't update. I did it the second time, again with some random players, the same thing. I opened the quest log and I read that I am required to be the highest contributor in order for it to count. Ok that's not cool. I had to do the same quest like 4 times (the 4th time I was alone the whole time) to finally finish it.

Next, one quest asked me to participate in a scenario, cool. So I queued for all scenario excited to try the new gear I got from the quests. Finally a scenario popped up. Me, another wp and like 3 other characters showed up. The scenario asked to take some salvage or something but there was no indicator. I basically followed the herd. We finally meet the opponents. A couple of orks, a goblin and a couple of dark elf characters. They absolutely walked through us.
That didn't discourage me though, so I just respawned and waited for my allies to regroup.
We went to the same position again, we ended up getting massacred again. Rinse and repeat until the scenario ended. The score was 500-0. Not a single kill from our side.

I was "ok let's try another scenario". I queued up for another one. Long story short, another 500-0 with 0 kills from our side. Ok, enough of the scenarios for now.

Next I checked the news section which is absolutely amazing. There was a news of a skirmish in Nordland so I pressed "Go" excited to finally try to famous group fights that the game is known for. I teleported to Nordland and entered the pvp area. All I found was 2 lines, one order and one horde, facing each other and hitting each other from range. I tried to use my skills (which sounded awesome with all offensive healing stuff) but I got deleted the moment I stepped out of that line. In fact, both sides were just ranged characters bombing each other's, while the side that has more tanks advanced on the other. We ended up getting cornered at our camp with only few people left on our side since the rest just logged out or went somewhere else. It wasn't a great experience.

So I went back to solo questing, but after all what happened I just looked at the screen for few seconds then I logged out.

I really hope this isn't the average experience for new players because it is absolutely brutal. I still haven't given up on playing the game because I was maybe too weak (I was just lvl 8) but I hope it gets better later on.

What you wrote is normal, you need to learn to play with class. You have to be mentally strong to play this game because it will get worse later. don't give up, the game is amazing.

It doesnt get better, for a long time. And this is not okay we all should be making as much alts as possible because the lvling experience is enjoyable, well somehow even this is now not the case

If you have task to kill npc and there are other people who hit him you should group up so everybody in group get credit.

There are no bots or matchmaking to put easy targets on enemy side to make you feel good like in some modern MOBA or session MMOs. Devs have plans introducing matchmaking, but it may take forever.

Ranged is pretty OP rn. But you're not obligated to fight in zerg, you can enter RvR lake at any spot.

This is non-commercial project, so don't expect to be carried all the way to top and get your ass wiped at all times.

get to lvl 10-12 on a few classes, then get a little bit better understanding of the mechanics. The game is a classic 3 tank, dps, healer. Scenarios are busted honestly best advice is to group up to do them, which is counterproductive in as much as they claim to be for the fast fights. but grouping is more commitment than most want to make for an hour of play.

Typical experience. You have to realize that most Order players don't actually want to win. By their own admission, they enjoy beating on tanks for hours, bullying their teammates and losing all the time.
Their words, not mine.
Order has a unique playerbase that is unlike any other MMO. That's not meant positively.

If you're competitive, deal with 2/3 of Order being useless, reroll Destro or look for another game.

@Warnoise. First welcome to the game and sorry you had such a poor experience to begin with.

The good news is, most of your complaints are things that you can resolve or at least mitgate yourself in a large way.

The Scenario (SC) imbalance is a pendulum that swings one way and then the other with only brief interludes in the middle (perfectly balanced as all things should be.) That you can't resolve and you'll have varying experiences.

The New Player Experience is something that has been worked on a lot and it's in much better shape than it used to be, but more progress is still required.

I would recommend trying to find a guild or some other T1 players that are experienced so they can mentor you through what is a very, very, very unique MMO. If you come at this like a WoW player, (or New World or any other MMO) you're going to be disappointed with how hard you fall short.

Warrior Priest is an amazing class and there's lots you can do with it, but it does require some TLC to come online fully.

All I can suggest is to keep with it, because this game is lightning in a bottle, something truly magical that we're not likely to see again.

Hang in there. Best advice is to find a guild recruiting new players, join them in discord and just ask all the questions you want...you'll get more familiar with the mechanics and the game that way, and if you ever have any questions feel free to message me on the forums privately and I'd be happy to discuss more!

First of all: WP and DoK are the worst classes to start with. Try Kotbs or Chosen. They are the best for the beginer.

Second: join Wb for RvR and guard your party members.

You'll be good )
