Dwarf character, returning player

Hi!

Returning player here. I was thinking about starting a character - Slayer but then checked out another threads and now i am a little bit confused. Is it true that SL is very bad?

What about IB?

Which one of those two (or dwarfs in general) would be the most needed?

Welcome! As someone who was in your shoes recently I have good answers for this:

There are a lot of doomsayers on here who act like the world is constantly about to blow up so take what they say with a grain of salt. Slayers are fine, but without an experienced group who knows how to deliver you properly into combat you'll spend a lot of time dead. That being said you'll hit like a freight train full of dynamite. My Slayer kills almost anything it looks at, but if your healer and tank aren't looking after you you'll be dead the moment the enemy realizes you're turinging their team members into a thick red paste. Ironbreakers are a better choice as a solo player; they're suuuuuper tough and many groups you join as order will be short on tanks, plus theyre no slouch when it comes to damage. Just remember that as a tank your first and foremost responsibilities are to keep moving your guard ability to whoever on your team is being killed and use your taunt skills on high damaging targets to reduce the damage they do to anyone but you, also you'll have a punt (kick that sends an opponent flying) and knowing who to use it on separates the noobs from the pros.

Hope this helps

Slayer and Choppa are memes today, in fact, there is no longer a tank or healer either, it's all DPS, RP, AM, SHAMAN, ZEALOT... it's the era of RDPS, MDPS in this game has become a meme. Only WH and WE are still viable as MDPS, that's because no one has parry anymore, otherwise they would be other tired classes.

I got back to the game a few weeks ago, didn't play it since 2020 and it feels a bit different tbh.
Melee lost parry cause of WS to Ini change, not sure what I should think from that change. At the moment it feels like I'm more "Glass-Cannon" than before. I also think that healer could get good parry when they stack Ini(not sure if there are experiments with it since change).

I also think that the 3rd skill from AoE Tree is **** compared to Choppas Imba Pull. I'm fine when we don't get a Pull but our boming AoE could get a little more range to be compareable with the pull. A huge guarded Choppa zerg and the Sc is over before it starts...
I play Runi, Slayer and Engi, Runi is nice Engi also nice, but my Slayer sucks a bit, you need a really good organized group to be relevant, it was always like this with Slayer/Choppa but atm it feels differnet imo.🤷‍♂️

I still love my solo slayer won't ever stop playing it. Is it like it was, nope a lot of been "nerfed". But I'm ok and still love it more than any class out there besides maybe choppa ( deleted mine ). Play it and try it out ,if you don't like it reroll.
First RR90 Slayer working towards the top of the mountain.I still solo, still run riposte.

Get to the choppa is a meme now. They have nerfed that skill to only pull from 25 feet so it cant break a guard and even then its only a 50% chance to pull per damage tick all while providing a punt/root immunity. Slayer gets shatter limbs which is a direct upgrade to GTDC as its useful at all group sizes where as GTDC is only really good at screwing with bad tanks who are to far forward in siege funnels.

The IB is effective whether in a group or solo. In fact, you'll often see solo IBs with a shield, as the class is nearly unkillable, though at the expense of fun (unlike other classes that are also very hard to kill in 1v1 but remain fairly enjoyable). As for the Slayer, it needs to be a personal favorite class; otherwise, you might end up disappointed quickly due to its many requirements to be effective. There's no point discussing solo play for this class, as while it's possible, it's currently so weak that investing time in it isn't a good idea—unless you enjoy leather and belching blood.

IB is good for solo play, especially SnB IB.

Some people that have been owned by an SnB IB usually criticize the class saying it's not "fun", but luckily "fun" is subjective, so if you're looking for the class fantasy of being an unstoppable dawi in heavy armor then look no further.

Of course, some people say this isn't "fun" because their idea of "fun" is to kill you easily, so anything that kills them is "boring".

Biggest problem with any dwarf class- you are playing a midget.
