Regarding the tweaks to improve the game I've done a dirty one and its removing all the shadows, you could try it and check if, first you like it and second if it improves...open the file user settings.xml inside your RoR-User folder and there are two entrys called shadows="x" in those parameters, write shadows="low" for example in both, the game won't recognize it and it won't charge the shadows at all.junkyxicht wrote: ↑Thu Oct 17, 2024 9:56 am Hi, first thanks a lot for the mac guide! Installation was very easy with crossover. Unfortunately i cant get the game to run with a decent framerate. So i hope to find someone who managed to get the game running smoth.
My Setup:
MacbookPro M2 Max
32GB RAM
CrossOver 24.0.5 with Win10 and everything according to the guide.
This thing should run most game with a good framerate. But i barely managed to get around 10-15 FPS in Scenarios. In the World outside camps i can get up to 40 FPS, but as soon as many NPC and Players are around it drops to ~15.
The setting that affected the FPS most was the Animation setting. Everything else did not change FPS at all. Even if played at 3840 x 2160 (4k) it did not change the fps. So there is some bottleneck around. Im new to crossover, so i dont know how to tweak stuff there. I Just enabled MSync and disabled everything else.

Unfortunately parallels is another paid software and I don't have it, I believe the install process is even easier on there as you are just running windows.szafran98 wrote: ↑Thu Aug 22, 2024 8:47 am I've tried to run RoR on M1 via Crossover, but I've got at most 30 fps with crazy drops and honestly it's unplayable. Then I tried Parallels and bang 60 fps. It's crazy that it works better in full virtualization, because usually games in Crossover have better fps. I just have a problem with mouse sensitivity like million DPI when i move the camera.

Edit at 09/11/2024 last crossover edition (25.0.0.38369) allows the game to be run with the new client, so the old method of installing .Net is deleted and the overall process is simpler.

I manage to solve the mouse sensitivity, with windows parameter of the mouse for video gaming.szafran98 wrote: ↑Thu Aug 22, 2024 8:47 am I've tried to run RoR on M1 via Crossover, but I've got at most 30 fps with crazy drops and honestly it's unplayable. But with paralles the game is just too bright and clear. Do you have the same issue ? Do you manage to solve it in order to have a classic game ?

Re: [Mac OS] How to Install Return of Reckoning V.2
Hi,
I'm using a M3 MB Air with Crossover 25.0.0.38369 and DL'd the installer. I ran it in a bottle with DX for Modern Games and .NET 4.0 but when the installation completes, I try to run ROR.exe or RORLauncher.exe, the app appears in my dock and bounces for a while but after several minutes, it doesn't respond, nothing appeared.
Can you guys help me ?

.Net is no longer needed with the new rorlauncher.exe it should start without it, just check your rorlauncher weights around 60ish mbs.Johnnyciraptor wrote: ↑Sun Dec 01, 2024 4:51 pm Hi,

Re: [Mac OS] How to Install Return of Reckoning V.2
Hi,
I have a Mac M1. I have tried to download this game in every way possible for 2 days using crossover, and I just cant get it to work. From what I have read, the original post has a set of instructions that seems to no longer apply now? You would not know that unless you read the 7 pages of comments though.
Anyway I was wondering if someone had the latest way to get this to work using crossover. I downloaded the game through the MAC os link on the website, unzipped it (left it all in the downloads folder), then used crossover to open the program, but the launcher never fully opens. The icon will bounce around but ultimately times out or does nothing. I have tried creating my own bottle using the exact method seen on the video instructions posted here in 2023, that doesn't work. I tried NOT installing net 4 as instructed by the latest 2024 posts seem to suggest, (only putting directx in the bottle instead of net4), can't get it to work either.
Is there something I am missing here? I feel like it may be an easy fix, and I am the problem because I am just not understanding, or getting confused by all the changes that happened since the original post was made to now in 2025 where things are quite different.
Any help and guidance would be appreciated.
