Return from 2020

As I understand, for last few years devs changed a lot of things, but it's hard to find patch notes with core changes. Plus some situational questions.

1. One currency for all PvP content? No lock to forts\capitals to get last 2 sets, no split between oRvR and Scenarios. So it's only matter of time to get sov, not only for meta classes in organised wb with ton of free time to snipe a siege? Or rewards designed in way where without winnig in siege it's years of playing?

2. New siege rules?

3. Difference between sides still in a form where Order side with many rDPS and lack of tanks, when Destro in more balanced state(tanks-healers-dps)

4. Lands of the dead now avalible? With small tombs and big tomb? Rare trinkets and next pve set in progression?

5. Skavens on oRvR is avalible?

6. Organised wb meta still 2 KotBS 2 Slayers 2 WP for every party? Or atm wb not so precise?

7. NerfedButtons is alive and works properly? This one and bug with resurrection without line of sight was my personal hate on official servers...

8. Scenario match making works in the same way? Organised party vs randoms without healers from both sides even atm organised party exists from both sides, but in different scenarios?

1. Yup, PvP currency got consolidated. War Crests drop from player kills, they're in bags from keeps / forts, winning/losing scenarios, weekly rvr influence, and weekend warfront. Imo, its a lot better than it was, you can basically PvP however you want and still get crests to advance your gear. Winners get crests quicker than losers, but yeh, you'll eventually get to sov.

It IS still a grind. You still need a lot of crests to get all the PvP gear, which is why many people grind the PvE gear sets so they can save crests for sov.

2. Not sure much has changed with sieges really. Still ramming doors.

3. Role balance always changes, but i feel both sides do pretty good. Feels like there is more rdps after some recent changes, but not really. Tanks and healers are still wanted on both sides ofc!

4. LotD is now a once-weekly event. Its kinda like a massive scenario, with a lot of battlefield objectives forming a big tug of war. There is a score counter for both sides, first to 3000 wins. Kills and holding BOs increases the score. No real PvE, no gear sets (well, cloak+jewel is available). I quite like it, being only 1hour a week it brings players together for some genuine large scale PvP. Tends to last about an hour.

5. No skaven

6. Meta not so strict, slayers got nerfed (balanced), but mostly i just don't think there are many large guilds with enough players to put together full meta warbands.

7. NerfedButtons got banned iirc, you can't use it anymore. gotta play properly.

8. Matchmaking kinda sucks still. It still tries to put premade vs premade, but the truth is there arent enough players queuing for scenarios for matchmaking to work. Devs have tried a bunch of stuff to make it better, but it always results in SCs not popping because not enough people are queuing.

I was in a situation where my SW needs 250 sov crests and no guild get SW to full wb in any spec, best case - party of underleveled tanks and healers + random PUG to the rest and in most cases vs organised wb from other side. So 1 crest from siege avg, 1-2 sieges in week - estimate ~3 years of sieging to get sov for "non meta" dps. For me, big deal was no progression from other activities.

PvE gear was great option on early 40, but it was hard to find a party, maybe now it's easier coz it's now saves PvP currency. If so, probably it's time to start WH\WE.

P.S. 26 151 war crests for all PvP sets without weapons from t1 to sov... sounds reasonable.

So, my tank got all PvP sets on the way to sov, as well as the fortress weapon and shield. I was able to get everything pretty much on-level until the final 2 pieces of sov, but I managed to get my sov jewel within 2 days of hitting 80 so it wasn't bad.

I think it very much depends on your playstyle.

My tank spent a lot of time in pug warbands, or doing scenarios, which seemed like a pretty good way to get crests.....but was fairly slow to actually rank up.

My squig herder, by comparison, has been mostly solo roaming, either small scale or blob surfing. Renown has been very quick, but crests have been slow to come in. No idea what situation I'll be in when it comes to getting sov, but I'll deal with it when I get there! Even with going the PvE route, I still seem to not have many crests!
