Returning player - characters name are taken

Hi!

I just installed a game after quite a break and I realized my main characters name and other characters has numbers in their names. And I cant log in without name changes. Thats a bummer, I want to play my character as it was. Any way to get back my names?

Are you able to pick the same names that you had previously? If not, then someone else probably is using them now.

How long a character should be passive to "lose" its name and I can get it back?

I might add I find it a very bad proceeding. Many people came here to reacpture the nostalgic feeling of the original WHO with their old characters. I certainly wont rename my toons rather not play the game
Characters shouldnt lost its name or at least on a longer time peroid like 5 years.

Character names here are on a lease, one year at the time and the timer resets everytime you login (AFAIK). On a long running private server like this, there would be very little names (sensical names at least) left to pick after all these years if all the names were permanently yours once you name them.

One year is relatively short time though, and I wouldn't be against lengthening the timer to maybe 2 years or so.

And now you need to log certain char to reset the timer but timer reset imo should be on account log no matter if you log your 10th in line alt

Oh god. I filled up all my character slots. Well I'll log in with those I can and hope someday I'll be able with my mains.
