The game has shifted to the path of least resistance, resource collecting and the Battlefield Objective system is just terrible and all we have left is fliphammer.
I recall on live having to guard the whole map, have roaming warbands ready to support a BO under attack, I remember stealthing in and capping the flag back from underneath the noses of the opposition.
To counter the blop directly just creates more ways to game the system, dispersing the blob was fundamental to the function of play and war progression on live (at least once) and though nothing is perfect it was better than whats here which gives no incentive to spread out.
Can it be fixed? Yes.
Will it be fixed? I very much doubt it. It would require a new path, a new vision and all the work, effort and coding necessary in order to get it running and dealing with problems, bugs and growing pains and all the while the developers will be under attack from "the community" whining about how it was working "fine" before and that they dont like change.
Theres no incentive or even a real reason for someone to step into that minefield and take control in order to try and put a more engaging game into effect.
What can you do? Talk, whine, cry and reminisce. For a fan made facsimile of a long dead MMO is really quite functional and you would sooner have it, warts and all, than not.

I disagree. Everyone enjoy different things.Reivren27 wrote: Tue Apr 22, 2025 2:39 am I always ignore blobs and mass battles. I'm not interested in them.
The best this game has to offer is the small scale, only then you start to understand the game and delve into the micro-moments of the classes.
Furthermore, I would argue that small-scale pvp gaming is already done much better in many other games. Very few games do large-scale PvP well. This is one of the few, and should lean into its speciality.

Thank you all for sharing your views, as we can see, the blob is more about psychology of players. The problem is not about blob as it self, the question is "How to entertain that blob?". As mentioned above, there are some ways to give extra activity for "blob". And maybe some suggestions will help devs, to find that new "encounters".

They could restore some of the nerfs to roaming based spells like bugmans, ib heal, wh, sw. That wud make it more attractive.Gorezog wrote: Fri Apr 25, 2025 3:42 pm The game has shifted to the path of least resistance, resource collecting and the Battlefield Objective system is just terrible and all we have left is fliphammer.

Judging from how many people have left the game specifically citing the RvR system, I think it's safe to say that no, it's not what people want.

Actually this.DevanShell wrote: Fri Apr 25, 2025 2:46 pm Doesnt a Blob create content for everyone? Pugs can group up and dont need to organize. org. WB can flank and roam. Small Scale Partys can play around the edges.
If you dont want to blob there is always the option to swich zones. I really dont understand the Problem. RvR is made to be a Sandbox. You can choose what you do with it
Also main selling point of the game is large-scale battles and 24 or lesser ain't look like that.
oRvR mechanics, AAO and tools for fighting as underdog etc are all absolutely valid discussions but those are different topics tbf
Re: "Let's talk about blob in ORVR."
Judging by the recent population we don't need the people who have left the game because of the rvr system.
There is an existing mechanic to deal with the blob, it's called a morale drop. That got nerfed into oblivion, so blobbing is the natural result.

While the recent population growth is a positive thing for the server, the likely cause is the server being promoted by troma and the youtube algorithm--and likely to prove transient if changes aren't made. The attitude you displayed is microcosm of the reason this server was on life support in the first place.Fey wrote: Mon Apr 28, 2025 7:20 am Judging by the recent population we don't need the people who have left the game because of the rvr system.

As likely as to prove consistent. Both are pure conjecture, and it could be easily said that attitudes like yours are the reason for past issues. I don't know which is correct, but the aggressive finger pointing going on here isn't healthy.georgehabadasher wrote: Mon Apr 28, 2025 7:31 am --and likely to prove transient if changes aren't made.
