Hello, and welcome to my post.
I recently was able to convince 6 of my friends to play RoR with me. A lot of us played on the original servers but we're basically new players. We all received mail saying we could do a dungeon which we're down to do, but I was under the impression that one should not do PvE content because you'd miss out out on Renown. Does the dungeon just offer little in the form of XP and it's mostly just gear?
Second, we've been doing our own thing as we're leveling through T1 in our own groupand queuing up for scenarios when there are only six of us, but I'm assuming that won't cut it when we get to the next tier. Should we just follow the group as best we can and wing it or just try to join up in any warband that will have us? I'm open to starting our own warband, but we're not familiar with the zones at all and wouldn't know what objectives to go to. We'd probably stand a better chance than if we were just a group of six, but I'd assume people are looking for a more structured warband.
Lastly, what is the blue currency to purchase the tradeskill materials? I'm assuming there are other ways to get those items but that's just the most readily available way I've seen. Are there any guides for tradeskills someone could link to?

You will learn zones and the flow of rvr soon enough. Just test what your group can do. Joining a good wb as a sub 40 is difficult (especially as dps). If you feel underpowered at some point just zerg it up and follow some wb for a while. Make sure your gear is updated to your level and always use talismans (bolster will at points make sub 40s pretty strong).Alch1e wrote: Wed Jul 30, 2025 11:46 am

One thing I would recommend is having one of your more crafting minded members pick up Apothecary and cultivation. Honestly all of you should pick up apoth/cultivation. Then get someone who likes to farm, and have them go butcher. Cultivation will provide you with stat potions, while butchering provides armor/absorb potions. There are friendly crafters in game that will assist you.
Dungeons are absolutely your friend. Do the first one, can't recall what it's called, but the set bonuses are a real advantage. Plus once you get into tier two the bolster mechanic really boosts those gear sets.
If you have access to potions, and full set gear, you will own everything in mid-tier scenarios.

Definitely do the dungeon for the Keeper set as well, once you get out of tier 1. Visit the wiki for supplemental gear. The underwork jewelery for example is quite good. I believe that is around level 23/25, and can be purchased in appropriately leveled chapter camps.

I think that we will get the hang of T2-4 zones and hopefully we won't just get stomped every time we try to venture out. We've watched some videos and learned the importance of keeping bolstering fat via gear and talismans.
Thanks for the heads up on Apothecary, I've started it as well as talisman making on another character. Not familiar with butchery but I assumed that would be somewhere along the lines of PvE? I guess if they're lower level they're not gonna give much xp anyway.
And yeah, it has been a blast so far. One of my friends loves the Slayer lore and has a dwarven bloodlust that I will get moderated about if I describe it here.
