Re: Ungrateful
I agree with Morfee.
Never have i received a hateful comment about my healing, even when we were stuck on t1 without party frames. Only exception is the roleplaying dumb BOs who usually blame all the healers

Thanks for the compliment. I'm really getting better at it now. Using my old Guard bot add on and Square has helped a lot. Again, sorry for the fail. I'm working on it.Monkeegod wrote:I was the WE in that SC. I remember being impressed by your attitude towards it - normally that would have devolved into an argument. Re: Ungrateful
I agree so much with this. There's a few basics us MDPS folk like, and it's the art of pre-hotting; giving people Heal over Time abilities to ensure the first hits from enemy DPS won't his as hard, keeping us in the fight longer from the start. When I see a healer doesn't pre-hot his group, or even himself, I tend to address it, and hope the healers will learn on how to keep an entire group alive from start to finish. Only real complaining starts when you exclaim that 'you're not a healer', while only doing 3k DPS damage and 15k self-healing.Morf wrote:I see alot of ppl saying healing isnt easy etc etc, it aint hard either.
The same way you would moan at a snb tank for not guarding or a dps being the hero and charging into 6+ solo some healers are just bad and dont understand the basics.
Good healers generally dont receive hate and go unnoticed, the odd chance they do its the "hero" type player who should just be ignored anyway.
Dont suck at healing and you wont be seeing hate towards you.

Re: Ungrateful
On live it was hard to heal even with working frames; if you're going to be a dedicated healer you -need- to use an addon like Squared, Enemy or Healgrid, since these actually do refresh party frames.Coryphaus wrote:I find this post amusing simply b/c of the sheer number of healers Ordo has to the extent you guys would rather people not roll healersTwyxx wrote:Healing isn't an easy job. And as I have said before, people would roll/play more healers if people weren't such asses to them.
Furthermore on destro I don't really see this except this one time when this Bg said HEAL in /wb
But people have to understand is that healing is very difficult atm with out proper party frames to make targeting eaiser

Re: Ungrateful
ok, first off yes there are terrible healers, but call me an idealist but rather than abusing them wouldn't it be more constructive to offer them advice. though the kind of player that would rage at a healer is generally not the person who's advice you'd want. secondly, i wouldn't rage at a good healer, there are so many spiteful tricks they can pull, which if they are bored/irritated enough they may indulge in. my point is there seems zero good reasons to rage at people in a pvp game. saying that, if you are the silly dps dying all the time, i strongly recommend you roll a healer, not to learn "how hard it is" but to learn their limitations. it will make you better at killing them, and better at helping them keep yourself alive. and as far as cigarette and coffee, wp/dok sure all the time, runie, shaman not so much. but most importantly if you are copping flack as a healer ignore it and work on getting better/asking for advice, it's the internet, as many people have stated there will be trolls/tards

90% of the time, if you give "advice" to someone they will take offense to it. For instance if you notice you are never getting HoTs as say a sorc and you say "can you please HoT me" it will translate into "HEY YOU **** IDIOT LEARN HOW TO HEAL" on their end.wots wrote:ok, first off yes there are terrible healers, but call me an idealist but rather than abusing them wouldn't it be more constructive to offer them advice.

True, and furthermore that person will likelly get no more heals. Becouse healer is thinking "Im doing my best, but your not notecing so I will stop healing you anyways"!Jaycub wrote:90% of the time, if you give "advice" to someone they will take offense to it. you seem to run into a lot of emo healers from what i've worked out not sure how that has happened. most of the good ones i know have very thick skins, generally don't cop abuse, and when they do are aware enough of their abilities to be amused by it. my point was a different one, abusing a terrible healer won't make them any better, and if they are really unstable enough to not take advice, requests, maybe pick your language/timing better to accomodate their frailty90% of the time, if you give "advice" to someone they will take offense to it. Re: Ungrateful
The only thing that makes me angry enough to yell at a healer is if I see them ressing someone 10 seconds away from the spawn point while the team is getting crushed, 90% of the resses I see in SC's are just plain awful and should never happen. Other than that I keep my trap shut because the community is so small you can't really afford to have too many enemies on the server.wots wrote: you seem to run into a lot of emo healers from what i've worked out not sure how that has happened. most of the good ones i know have very thick skins, generally don't cop abuse, and when they do are aware enough of their abilities to be amused by it. my point was a different one, abusing a terrible healer won't make them any better, and if they are really unstable enough to not take advice, requests, maybe pick your language/timing better to accomodate their frailty. i'm happy to take requests, but if you pm me asking for a rez and the whole sc is on 10% i doubt you'll get much from that. again tho, everyone should play heals, staying alive is a co-operative venture between tanks/heals and dps. i think the OP makes a valid point that healers always get the blame, something that doesnt bother me because i realise the fallacy in that concept but it is not a sure fire way to encourage new/unskilled players to heal and learn
