Warband Leader Crowns and Blobbing

The addition of the warband leader crowns is overall a great change, and a great way to help PUGs and new players. Adding the in-game mark over the leader's head makes the game more accessible to new players. However, allowing the crown to be visible to all allied players, and especially making it visible on the map are likely to contribute to blobbing. I'm curious to hear others' opinions about to what degree this is indeed the case, and whether it would be better for the game to 1) stop displaying the overhead crowns to non-warband allies and 2) stop displaying the crowns on the map.

Displaying the crowns on the map is the whole point.

Maybe it should be only visible to warband members, so less obvious to everyone where DA BLOB iz, but with basic comms, it doesnt matter.

yes, it promotes zerging.

for new players, that's a good thing. it shows them where to go to fight even if they don't meet autoband requirements.

personally, I would like to have an advanced version that shows the icon to the *enemy* team, like the zone event boss icons.

Warband leader crown is greate improvement.
After those few days of observation i have some conclusions.(Yes i made observations on both sides)
Players discover faster where is/are leaders that could follow or join their warbands/pugs.Big PLUS for players both new/solo/roam ect
---//-- can discover faster when leader got wipe and recover in warcamp.
Leaders can perform coordinated action without ussing /1 chat or other channels of communications. (Overall pace of organisation imo end in a big PLUS)
Sensitive topic- does Leader Crown support blobing??
When there is only one crown on map probability of blobing is higher especialy when that side play on AAO.
Situation changes when there are more then one crown. Leaders more often look on map and try to make coordinated gameplay especialy when they play on AAO.
Conclusion- when leaders make coordinated gameplay of course they will ends up in one place of map trying to dominate opponent with bigger numbers.
Ingame UI is less buggy then Addons or third party programs - so its more predictible.
From my perspective what support blobing is depersonalisation. When player is in team(party/warband ect) they more likely to perform independent action because they will get more support from other members of team. Solo players ends up in quoting "blob" because they look for support of crowd.

If the target addition for the Crowns was to give pug and new players a better idea about where the actio is, then I would say the crows were a succes!
We also have to remember that the crows are optional, the warbandleaders need to actively grind, purchase, and activate their crowns to be highlighted. So if a premade warband didnt want a tail following them, then they could simply not run with a crown actively showing.

I think ror-streamers not running a delay, and potentially in real-time showing location of warbands could be a minor issue. But RoR has opted to not force streamers to have chat-box overlay or stream delays, so thats just the rules we play with.

The confusion I think we are better notising and is getting highlighted with the crows, is that you will at times see several crows being right on top of eachother in a "blob" and while the crowns could potentially make it easier for several crown leaders to find eachother and ball-up, I dont personally think these additions are the root issue.
If blobbing is an issue, then the RvR systems need to address those. Short and simple as that.

A few days ago in 24hour Avelorn two destro warbands were balled up closely together, against the one order warband. While frustrated players might blame the blob & the crowns. I think the issue, is that even in a good open layout map like Avelorn you end up having some situations where sieging is out of hand (both keeps were 3star) and the campaign or Battleobjectives doesnt have enough importants to make the two vs one situation change from "roam and fight" mindset.

Realisticly when two warbands are against one, no matter which realm does it. There should be a system to make sure the only "fun" or rewarding option isnt just seaking the one enemy force, but instead there should be a system providing situations where the single enemy warband will have a chance of finding those two enemy warbands at seperated locations and then can take turns on fighting those two. Instead we have a 48vs24 ish situation.

Imagine a perfect world where each BO is equally fought over, a new player logs in and goes to a map and sees one crown fighting on his realm near each BO. With smaller groups ganking on the supply routes or running them, stealthers ganking the tail of a bigger unorganized force and giving intell and warbands flanking for eachother, or coordinating who goes to which objective, instead of one big rally point. But we need a better RvR system and several minor systems to be changed for that. But as for the crowns, I dont think they are to be blamed or are the right system for addressing blobbing issue.

The crowns could in time reduce blobbing, probably not, but could. You do not need to be blobbed up all the time if its easy to find your faction warbands in time of need.

Some wb leaders surely have 2nd monitor with opposite realm account for it. Maybe some even have modified addons to include enemy crowns too.
