Currently, I see enemy party frames are able to make the distinction somehow, albeit not all the time. I am not here trying to talk ethics, or if anyone agrees or disagrees with the addon; simply the ability to make it open to a few more dps specs

Future Autoband update plans?
Not sure who takes care of, or if the addon is even kept up to date, but just looking to make a simple request if possible; is there a way to track healers as DPS if they meet a certain criteria? Just as an idea can it somehow look to see if a DoK/WP are dual wielding/2H or a Zealot/RP are in stance, but then i'm not too sure how to make Shamans/AM's stand out since FotG exists and is a tool used to heal. I apologize but I forget/do not know what the Order side equivalents are for the Zealot/Shaman abilities mentioned above.

Re: Future Autoband update plans?
i think there is a option but it doesnt seem to work, now you can just ask the lead to right click on you and mark you a rdps or mdps and autoband will count as one even if you leave and rejoin the warband you will be marked as dps

AutoBand already uses the exact same source the latest versions of Enemy uses for this (I actually coded it into AutoBand before I added it to Enemy), namely the server-provided scoreboard data (RoRGroupScoreboard API feed). The alt-spec/archtype flag comes from that server feed.
So neither Enemy nor AutoBand is “detecting” spec on its own from weapon/stance directly. Both are reading the same server flag and reacting to it.
In AutoBand, if that server flag marks a healer career as alt-spec, AutoBand remaps that player to a DPS role (enabled by default). If the feed updates a bit late, a player can briefly show as healer on join and then switch to DPS when the server flag arrives. So if you have been removed from a warband because of too many healers, the scoreboard is usually updated for the next join, and you should be detected as an dps.
There is also a manual override (as tsyuryu mentioned) in AutoBand if you want to force a specific role for a player regardless of spec/career.
Im quite sure that just toggling the dps-buff as a Zealot or Runepriest is not enough to toggle the flag in the API though, I THINK it checks stats, so wether the character has more dmg or heal-stats, but I'm not sure, so as those classes its probably better to ask the AutoBand-using WBlead to manually reclassify you.
