For farming pugs in 6man man dok based group is nearly unkillable cos dok can save focused targets or use grop drain morale. But when it comes for targeting hard defended armored target dok simply doesn't exist. Armpen is what separates dps dok from chopas maras and squigs. While dps WP can stack gulty soul, nuke with with undef spirit skill, and have huge autos, dok as dps have literally nothing, all his kit is pure phys and hard negated by tough and armor becase he deals many portions of separated dmg. Add to that 10%parr striketrough and u get something that looks like dps but in fact it isnt.
To your point about DOK's dps in GROUP play - I also mentioned in one of my previous posts that DOK annihilates pretty much anything which isnt heavy-armored i.e. tank(s). And yeah, when playing a group small scale - one obviously should not run the above mentioned tanky monstorsity build (simply a waste then). What i do personally - I swap my rubies for 2x onyx as well as speccing into WS heavier + swapping some gear from sov to vic leaving WL intact, all in all that brings WS to 550-ish +2% of extra arpen, with slightly below soft cap str & slightly below 30 crit (not going full glass canon ofc, DW DOKs tend to be prio-focused), works like a charm when you need to kill anything which isnt a tank ;p
P.S: I just figured that all that sounds as if I'm happy with DW doks nowadays...nah, im not (albeit i adapted and still "squeeze out" the most one can from the current DOK...and hey, c'mon, it gotta be admitted that total dominance in 1v1s VS melee was not there before the changes). One of the reasons why, as i previously said, I dont play my DOK all too often nowadays - was the DOKs' rework patch which significantly harmed DW doks very niche role which they have occupied previously. Moreover, current DIB mechanic and the emphasis it puts on speccing into crit (amongst other things which were harmed by balancing) - that further limits how a DW dok can be played (as if 1 tree to spec into wasnt limiting enough).
