Game sound is gone!

I'm experiencing this exact same issue too.
- no voiceover narration during the zone intro when loading in a new character for the first time
- no flavour soundbite/voice when interacting with any NPC's

I've posted these two as bugs in the bugtracker.

Never mind - turns out my vo_english.myp and video.myp files were only 34kb in size each, instead of 808mb and 429mb respectively.

I redownloaded them from the install torrent and everything is working fine now.

I had the same problem. The voiceovers did not work. The sounds from some of the non-humanoid NPCs worked though (growls from the monsters in IC).

The problem is that installing from the .exe did not work. A repair did not fix the problem either. Getting the files from the torrent and copying them over did work however.

Thanks for this post. Many years later, a guildie had this same issue where she could hear some sounds but not the voice or vendor sounds. Searching led here, and it turns out she was missing these same files you mentioned, so a quick re-download should get her up to speed!
