The real question is, was this really a general player consensus? Who did they listen to.

- The Path of Changing AoE spec brings good value to warbands and will mostly stay intact

- The Path of the Grenadier AoE spec brings good value to warbands and will mostly stay intact

The Devs missed the opportunity here imho. From the order perspective, during all the years of playing i have never seen an Engineer take the spot of a White Lion, BW, Slayer, SW(rip SW). The ultimate AOE skill in particular is extremely lackluster due to stacking rule.

I suppose a similar thing must be true for Magus in destro warbands. Solo Magi is a monster, the group version it seems players aren't happy about, is that really the vision of the balance team for the class?

chook06 wrote: Sat Aug 15, 2026 6:40 pm Nonsense. Reading this, it’s pretty obvious that you don’t understand at all how magical damage works, especially when it comes to the Magus.

It’s crazy how some people can be so convinced they’re right while being completely off the mark.
Magic damage is a HUGE itemization advantage in this context. Stop gaslighting people.

The Magus is OP in that context, too much DPS burst from 110ft, survivability and CC control. 10,5-11k wounds with the click of a button, no weapon skill required(def stats investment with still top ST burst). Instant 20% dps now and PET that debuffs resistance by 360 off the global CD.

If the devs are interested in small scale balance as they claimed in those WE nerf notes, then Magi should get a second balance pass check and toned down ( at the same time, could actually be Buffed for AOE / warband/ group gameplay).
You have obviously never experienced what it is like to get 6 disrupts in a row while trying to achieve the so called "burst" from 110ft. Try to burst down people with 1 dot and 1 3s casted skill xD. I will take a SH for ST over a magus or a sorc everytime in any content other than solo roam.

It even has been said in this thread again, Magus and Sorc are rarely any threat. I would gladly trade the 20% pet buff for a 50% incoming heal debuff.

I beg you, post us some video of real actual Magus gameplay where we can all see how OP it is out of solo roaming or picking up solo targets from a keep wall.

This is my point when it comes to balancing

You said "The real question is, was this really a general player consensus? Who did they listen to." and I dont think the balance team is listening to anyone at all outside the balancing team.

I think players have to stop thinking thay can change or effect that, iam sry but I believe the Devs and Balance Team just listen to themselfs regarding stuff like this.

6 distrupt in a row? What are shooting at a HTL shieldwall? :) . In solo the Magus will melt players extremely fast, both Burst and sustain is out of this world.

Sure. The live version is even more powerful than this video.

P.S. Why would you need a video though as evidence, this is very simple to learn by playing the actual game in this context.

Sure, but they have done changes based on feedback in the past, ultimately it is as you say.

You obviously do not read. Game is not balanced over solo roaming. There are certain clases that have always had an advantage in solo (and will always have because perfect balance does not exist). If you guys are asking for nerfs without taking into account other game modes, you are just simply mistaken. Magus is barely performing when healers are involved in a fight (in terms of ST).

The funniest thing is that currently even dps RP/Zealot performs better in terms of solo roam than Magus (yes, they may not be able to burst from 110ft but again, no need of bursting in solo roam). RP is also a magic damage dealer, has quite a few CCs and can switch between healing and dps with a single button. I do not see nerf threads every week for them.

Same goes for Shaman and AM.

When you think about it, there are multiple clases that perform quite well while solo roaming. Others however, don´t.

Because the base damage, multipliers, and offensive spell/tactic synergies aren't the same between these classes? Being able to switch between healing and DPS with one button doesn't mean that a RP or zealot have the same offensive pressure, burst, range, aoe, and scaling as a magus.

That's precisely why you don't see RP/zealot nerf threads every week, performing well as a DPS healer hybrid (+25% damage/-20% healing) in solo or group, isn't the same as having a magus level offensive pressure.

On the "barely performs when healers are involved" point: if a class can burst targets down extremely fast in solo, that damage potential doesn't magically disappear the moment a healer shows up. Guards, cleanses, interrupts, positioning, etc. reduces every DPS class's effectiveness, not just magus.

If you genuinely think a magus underperforms in group content once healers are involved, that's an argument for looking at ST tuning specifically, not for just dismissing the solo dominance as irrelevant.

Now here comes another one mixing stuff. If we are discussing solo, lets discuss solo. Its obvious that a HEALER should never have all the same tricks a pure dps class has. Still, when discussing solo roaming (that seems to be the main excuse for complaint on every thread), many other classes perform even better than Magus.

Well, yes it does as much of that burst depends on certains skills to land on the target and not to be cleansed for example. Just compare vs a SH/SW or vs a MDPS. Just the heal debuff makes them 100% more effective than Magus (or Engi). Since inmunities are shared, all the shinny toolbox Magus may provide goes down the toilet in most group content situations.

The reason why I keep bringing this up is because people asking for nerfing the solo capabilities of the Magus do not care that in group content its still underperforming. People complaining about burst or damage in solo roaming do not take into account that in other types of content, that damage, even if it seems high, it isn´t really. Yes Magus has a wide range of tools at his dispossal wich makes it a very versatile class while soloing but, damage output complains? please...

My guess is that many of the people complaining here have not even played Magus in the lakes and may be a little bit hurt because Magus is the "flavour of the month" class and the is an unusual amount of them running around in the RvR lakes ganking other less fortunate solo roamers. Pair that with the stealth nerf to the "typical" solo roamer class and I am sure everyone can understand where most of these complains are coming from.

The fun truth is that it seems that these complains have started appearing after the last patch. However, last patch did not do much for the Magus dps in terms of solo roaming. Yes, we got a couple nice QoL changes like the instant pet buff but we also got a 5% nerf in one of our main tactics. Overall, Magus has not gained dps, if anything it has lost some (Regarding solo roaming or ST in general, AoE spec is a quite better now).

Why do Magus get 2 pets? Who thought this was a good idea? These posters defending Magus pointing out many other classes are "less fortunate" is an understatement. With the amount of pressure they can dish out no healer can keep up cleanse and the toughness mitigation is ridiculous.

Why are you shifting the goalposts?

Anyways no wrong, Zealot does not perform better, Magus is much scarier due to insane Burst, CC control and ability to kite( now with teleport lol).

Your wordings feel desperate now, but i invite you to start a thread about RP, yea they are indeed quite broken. Although less oppressive than Magus since their DPS is a lot lower, they will just sustain vs anyone 1vs1 and kill them except healers( tanky dwarf tactics).
