Opinon from a returning player after a month

What happened to this game?
Four tiers down to two. Why even have tier 1 at this point? It has become very unfriendly to lowbies, new and returning players. How is this really any fun? I love getting ganked by full sov 40/80's at level 20. What's the point of gearing up if it doesn't matter? You might as well be naked and fist fighting. Why even have low wards to unlock? There used to be some balance to leveling up tier to tier. That's out the window. At least we had a chance to get some kills in and survive when the tiers were level restricted. We had at one point had some parity with gear and abilities. This is just a meat grinder for RR for high level players. With autoband you're lucky to get into a warband at any level under 30. That doesn't even matter because even if you get into a WB you just get punched in the face and die under a second. Good luck becoming a better player, learn your rotation, or the mechanics when you cant even get one ability off. Yeah, fun, my 2000th instadeath.

Mid tier scenarios are level 16-39 and can be a good place to learn your class, no CR40 players just everyone boosted to level 39.

It can sometimes be tilting because it's still a team game and people are learning on both sides. But I hope you give it a shot, with the scenarios rework, the queues are great and there's some fun to be had

The leveling up process can be tricky and is very class dependent, but luckily it's also quite quick.

As bankei said, mid-tier scenarios are a pretty good way to level up, especially with recent updates. They now give more crests, more renown and have better matchmaking, plus they added a bunch of new weapons that can be bought with new scenario currency. So, its a pretty good option. Only downside is if you mostly play NA / Late NA, they might not pop very often.

If you are determined to stick with RvR, then it can be tricky. If you're ranged DPS or a DPS healer, then you can just blob surf. You'll get plenty of renown and be comparatively safe at range, giving you time to practice rotations and positioning.

If you're melee dps or a tank, things are much more difficult in RvR if you can't get into a warband. You'll get chewed up by the blob, or easily beaten in small-scale / solo. The only real upside is gaming the bolster system - when you complete a new armour set and have good talismens in them, the bolster system can make you quite powerful. But just a few levels later, without any new upgrades, the bolster system makes you weaker again.

Best advice, as with all MMORPGs, is find a guild. There are plenty of friendly guilds that will have you in their group while roaming, you'll rank up quicker and learn more. And hopefully make some friends along the way!
THE BITTER END

Ayria - RR7X WE | Xotox - RR4X DoK | Anstalt - RR5X Marauder

I can understand the frustration here. The move from four tiers to two definitely changes the whole leveling experience, especially for players who are still gearing up or coming back after a break. Hopefully the devs can find a better balance between those two things.

Levelling up as a new player is punishing, I can see that. However on live with the rr100 scaling it was far worse imo.

16-39 SCs is the best SC window in the game for me, awesome fun. Levelled all my chars through SC grinding and 0 questing. Gets you to 40 and around rr52 and, if you make sue to do Gunbad > City Dungeons > BS so you're not spending crests for ward unlocks, you also get to 40 with around 5k crests.

Means you just have the 52-78 grind to endure but then you can insta buy full sov/tri/vic. Just don't be tempted to dump crests into random sets to unlock wards, particularly sets like invader (outside of maybe chop/slayer). You'll regret it.

I find using SC grinding to level and dungeons for wards in this way, I can end up at rr78 in full BIS in about 4 days played. Show me an MMO that allows you to reach parity with multi year vets so quickly.

Honestly, game is in a good state for newbros overall imo if you know how to level efficiently and bank crests o7

Yea that is the problem. If you knew what to do leveling esp on healers and rdps is like walk in the park. The problem is that new ppl dont know all the shortcuts so the leveling process could become true nightmare.
A bit more upfront info gathering is needed but still that can be hard for truly new ppl to grasp if see the game for first time

This is exactly why the game fails
A reasonable RvR system that could make the majority happy http://imgur.com/HL6cgl7
