As a RR85 SW main I love the assault rework. Then again, I solo roamed aSW for the last year or so anyways.
You are an example of the earlier comment on aSW fetishists. If the aSW post rework remains a peripheral irrelevancy that is a rework failure.
You asked if there are aSW who think the rework was good. I answered yes. And straight away you start attacking me and Feelfreetodie.

Assault may not be what YOU want it to be, but it doesn’t mean it’s bad. You need to QQ less and play the game more, and especially stop attacking players who have been playing Assault for more than a year before the patch, and continue to do so.

P.S it’s also funny how Feelfreetodie answered your question about aSW and then you retorted with a strawman about whether scout / skirmish are good - which is not what you asked, as you specifically posited a question about aSW.

Yeah, you may be hurt about Skirmish / Scout, but don’t start twisting people’s words who feel assault is in a good spot. And calling them “fetishists” is lunacy, as I’d argue that in small scale aSW now has better burst than WH.

Not just Assault; all 3 specs are more or less fine.

I wouldn’t agree with that.

I haven’t played Skirmish since patch, so cant judge if it’s still viable for WB play.

Scout has sufficient burst, but the 10s is just too long - a target too often will LoS you, gets out of range or is already dead by the time the 10s is over.

Losing disarm and 2x armour hurt assault less as it made up for it in other areas, but it also provided important defensive abilities for Scout / Skirmish that are now lost.

Assault is good. Not OP, not weak. It does very well against certain classes, and struggles against others - and that’s fine. Where it struggles is less so because of the class, and more so because the meta is so ranged heavy.

This is a confused reply. You do not understand my post(s) or what an attack is. ASW is and remains a fetish. Shall I explain what fetish means in common parlance (outside its formal meaning)? A fetish is a non-normative heightened valuation of a particularity. Pre the rework, perhaps 1% of SWs were aSW. Post the rework, if we are charitable and quintuple the aSW population it is still 5%. That fits within fetish parameters. It is peripheral which is unfortunate. I would love for aSWs to be as potent as possible, fitting with their MDPS role mastery. If a mastery is only solo or small scale that is a design flaw. ASWs should have options and not simply be consigned to the periphery.

Like your: 'all is well with aSWs' position, your comment that aSW have better burst than WH is unserious. Take any comparable rr of both and put them up against a similar challenge, the answer is obvious.

Are they playable in the sense that one can use them, sure.

Have they been nerfed to a point, one can consider this as overall causing harm to the class. Absolutely. That is a completely fair thing to write.

There are too many tangible nerfs, from the armor removal on assault stance, disarm removal( GG ranged specs defensive tools) to the destruction of Skirmish ST capability. FA being trash compared to pre-patch and so on.

Is this patch, with the exception of ASW dps skills ( which seems to have been the only buff focus of the patch, otherwise full on nerf mode) a tragedy compared to the pre-patch version of the class, yes.

I am sure they are all fine, from the point of view of destruction though.

P.S. If i was to play my RR 87 SW, it would only be as ASW in scenarios at this point, it is the only thing that makes sense after the patch.

Btw Broadhead Arrow must be the most nerfed skill in the history of the server? It went from 100 feet, 3 x stacking, usable in assault stance, AOE tactic with slight to no (IIRC, i could be wrong) damage reduction.

To current live version, 65ft (lol), no stacking, not usable in assault stance, heavy damage reduction on tactic.

At this point i wouldn't use that tactic even if i was going AOE skirmish. MA, IA, PD, BE, LS are all better options.

Well, I believe things are not as clear cut as that.

A large part of the complaints regarding "harmful" changes are purely about numerical damage changes, especially regarding Skirmish. And while I do believe the devs could have handled it a bit more gracefully (in a way that does not hit the bottom and top performance of the spec equally), the changes did tackle the most glaring issue the spec had; significant overperformance near the spec's skill ceiling.

I also understand being upset at playstyle changes (e.g. Scout going from upfront burst to timestamp burst), but that was
a) something that the devs have done even on previously balanced specs/playstyles (see healer AM/Shaman career mechanic)
and
b) a necessity (for the Scout spec) due to how non-interactive the previous design was.

I will agree that it can be frustrating when a class whose playstyle one really enjoys gets changed in a way you don't like anymore, but clearly that is part of the balance team's vision to which we can only adapt to. Adapt, or swap to any of the other 2 specs or 23 different classes the game has to offer.
Right now a lot of threads are just filled with comments about refusal to even try to give the new playstyle a chance (we also see that for assault).
Which is a big shame because current Scout is actually very strong in group-play/scenarios.
Just in a different manner compared to before.

You could say it's the most buffed as all of those were ROR buffs iirc, apart from being usable in assault, pretty "recent" even(2020 was like 2 years ago right guys...?). And when it had 3x stacking, dmg at 1x was lower, well, after it was hotfixed, cause there was small period where it had 3x stacking and they didn't touch the dmg at all and it was really bonkers.
Even if you wanna count ROR invented things at their peak that are now nerfed/changed, I think some old .ab ex things were way more broken. Or just the removal of the prdps +100% dmg m2, and no more aoe curse of khaine, crippling strikes removal, very understandable as to why they were removed however.

I mean yea the range tactic could give more range for ST, like it used to give +50% when there wasn't current split arrows tactic if some1 wants to play ST skirmish and then add some exception that with split arrows it would only be +15ft ofc.

Post rework, most SWs I see in WBs are Scout focused. Scout hits hard, but is generally stationary to shoot and single target. This can create its own issues. We will see if this becomes the norm moving forward.
