I suggested this several pages ago. I point it out again because unfortunately it appears Aza agrees with you and since he is a dev, we might be so unlucky that he actually implements separate Q's. Which would hurt players who want to group up (there are a lot of us as well).
it doesn't hurt premades, it forces them to actually fight like minded people instead of pugs. This has been explained already. Yes it will take longer to find pops, but just setting them loose on pugs is worse. When I group up I don't want to play against pugs, I want to do 6v6 and use actual tactics and strategy to win a match, not steam roll over people.

What's a pug? Anyone who solos? Two casual players grouped up? The answer isn't as simple as separate ques for groups and solos
A premade is a group of a 6 people. PUG's are just random solo players.
Group/Ranked que would be 6v6, and could either allow only 6 mans to que, and could have the possiblity of putting group fragments (3+3 / 4+2) against each other.
Casual que would be solo, and possibly allow twosomes.
You are right, people who don't want to solo but can't put together a 6 man can get screwed depending on how the system is setup, if that was the question you where begging for.
Dota 2 has a good system in place, I think if Az did implement MM that would be a good influence. Full groups only fight full groups in ranked, group fragments up to 4 in the case of this game would be in a que with solo players in ranked. And you would just have a casual que, except in this case make it solo only.
