Re: Stop this keep trading please
I liked the point that someone made about nobody finding this game by accident. The player base here is almost entirely former live players who miss the group play that WAR had for us.
Whenever I think about this game going the way of sommany other MMOs and going the way of the casual, it makes me sad. I haven't played Wow since TBC and a few weeks ago, I watched a current capped player play for a while. I didn't recognize the game. It's easy mode, solo que for every bit of content and nearly every bit of gear from what I saw and what he said. He's a very anti-group requirement as he likes to pop in and pop out without any comittment.
If that's what this is going to become, I feel it's a mistake

A game doesn't have to just cater to one or the other, problem with newer games or MMO's is they would rather pump all of their development resources into catering to casuals as that make them the most money (GW2).
For instance in this game, if we tear away any restrictions from things like the devs teams time or coding ability, and the servers population you could have a scenario system in place that can appeal to both types of people, and even those in between.
A casual solo/duo que with no strings attached that has a manager that puts together groups based on the role you qued up for to adhere to some kind of static or changing meta based on what the devs want to do.
A match making solo/group combined que that pairs people up according to MMR. That matches full groups against full groups, and solo/fragment group players against each other with a role system similar to the casual que.
And a Guild vs Guild fixed roster ladder w/ scheduled matches and seasons/leagues.
Rewards for the higher braket/GvG could be subjectively better looking cosmetics for the SC weapons, and trophies etc... And ofcourse bragging rights on the ladder and MMR epeen.

Or you know. Just a que that makes balanced groups. I keep saying it. But the ppl who que as a group will just make smaller groups and que for faster pops. 90% of the "hardcore" players who are talking in this thread are casual. We player an hour or two a day at most. We want fast pops too. Limiting our game time just because the casual player refuses to learn basic game mechanics and skills such as guarding, assisting, kiting, peeling, and proper group make up doesn't mean people who have learned these skills should be punishedJaycub wrote:A game doesn't have to just cater to one or the other, problem with newer games or MMO's is they would rather pump all of their development resources into catering to casuals as that make them the most money (GW2).
