Launcher Error - Could Not Connect to Login Server

When I attempt to log in I am getting the following error:

Could not connect to Login server
System.Net.Sockets.SocketException (0x80004005): A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond 178.32.58.46:8000
   at System.Net.Sockets.Socket.Connect(IPAddress[] addresses, Int32 port)
   at System.Net.Sockets.Socket.Connect(String host, Int32 port)
   at RoRLauncher.Client.Connect()

I have had no problems at all getting into the game on this computer for over a month. The only thing I can think of that has potentially changed recently was I spent 2 weeks in Mexico (was able to log in there) and now that I am back in US I can't log in - could this be messing up my IP or something the login server is looking for? Other web/internet works fine. The only other posts I have found with this error was when the server was down but I have tried multiple times at different time of day so I don't believe that is the case here.

Try using a VPN, connect to a UK node.

http://www.hotspotshield.com is recommended.

Also, antivirus/firewall programs are sensitive to the way RoR interacts with WAR.exe, you should whitelist the folder in any security programs you have.

That's because the server is down while I try to source the issue causing the server to become unstable very quickly.

a mate my wife and I are getting this problem now after the gm tried some thing in game and it froze up for 5 min then kicked me out

I get the same error today. Actually I was playing 5 6 hours ago on the same computer etc. Something wrong about the launcher atm. It is not about our IPs or Firewall etc. What works for more than 2 months simply doesn't working now...

If anybody finds a solution, please share with us.

I hope it comes up. Just downloaded and got installed, just can't connect to login server.
