This has to stop.
I play Order and I stick to it, but playing Order means that you can't enjoy a true RVR.
Lets consider me a "True Order" since I no longer log in with a Destro-Character and I only play with Order.
Now, "True-Destro" are my friends, my enemies, my rivals, my loves, my hates! Without you my RVR would suck, without me your RVR would suck.
You fight for destro everyday, now matter the odds. And so do I for order.
But then, we have this problem called "Xrealmers". Those who does not enyoy RVR, but those wo only play to win, get the best gear or something else. (I bet all of you are "good ol' Pay-to-Win" or "I-only-play-to-win-with-minimum-effort")
Xrealmers are bad for both "True-Order" and "True-Destro".
We all know the drill..........
Good fights all over the realm...
BUT THEN! The order suffer a heavy loss and wipes somewhere near STK.
All of the sudden, True-Order can see all our WB go from 24/24 to 22/24 to 20/24 to 15/24.
And the True-Destro can see:
Xrealmer1 has left the party
Xrealmer2 has left the party
Xrealmer3 has left the party
Xrealmer1 has left the party
Xrealmer2 has left the party
Xrealmer3 has left the party
(For those who does not know this, these above are trying to join their full WB. The Xrealmers just left order to join Destro and want to leech in your WB)
(Aaaaand now there is 25% order against 75% destro, fun for both right?)
As I said, this has to stop. Xrealming is killing the RVR.
And this is also the problem that caused the last item wipe! (I 110% support the last item wipe).
It seems that everyone (even the devs) blame the system.
THAT IS NOT THE CASE.
This has nothing to do with the system. The system works but the system depends on a certain User/Gamer-Behavior.
The Devs have created a good system for us, but because of Xrealming-behavior, it doesn't work.
RORs RVR-system is working perfectly. All the devs are doing a great job, except they are not expectning Xrealming-Behavior.
The game system is not created for Xrealming. (F**k you Xrealmers)
You cant stop people from Xrealming in a free game.
(They just create two accounts, one for Order, one for Destro)
This User/Gamer-Behavior has to stop.
Otherwise this game is kinda doomed because these NEW ROR-rules:
1. The side that wipes first, losses all their xrealmers to the other side AND has lost the entire day/night.
2. The winning side receives nothing, since they can only win "By default".
3. The RVR only last as long as no one wipes.
I hope that this Post can created a debate regarding a solution that would end Xrealming and let the RVR continue.
(F**k you Xrealmers)

Re: Problem: Xrealmers. Solution?
By implementing a switch timer people should not be able to switch characters within 12h of play to avoid heavy imbalance. To avoid such matter they can create a new account and roam freely yet again, but how many of the current X-realmers are going to create a new character to grind one more time with same name, items that the previous one possessed? Not that many.
Unless... The server blocks the IP-adress and puts a restriction so that the IP-adress can only be accessed by one IP-adress at the time. This would decrease heavily the current imbalance.
Or... Force people to stop X-realming in a other way.

Ip can be easily modified, and many of us has dynamic Ips. Ip lock doesnt work.
A timer could help, not perfectly, but could help.

Re: Problem: Xrealmers. Solution?
I'm all in for some solution to stop xrealming as it's killing rvr....you end up either being farmed by 75% of the server that switches to other side to get free shinies or with crazy zerg on your side that flips zone back to back because there's no one to oppose it. Neither is fun.
I'd love to see IP-based or MAC-based locks with extended duration - at least 8h to avoid switching back and forth.
I bet soon enough we'll get someone who'll say xrealming is good because they switch to the underdog to balance etc....but we've all seen how it really works every time there's a major fight in rvr and after losign one side logs xrealm to get ez-mode. Not to mention the crazy zerg that caused last medallion wipe.
X-realming has to stop, it's probably even worse threat to this server than los and class balance issues.

dynamic IP isn't nearly as dynamic as you may think - majority of ISP's worldwide use reservations in their routing tables, so even if you were to disconnect and restart your modem/router you'd likely be assigned the same IP again.dkabib wrote:Ip can be easily modified, and many of us has dynamic Ips. They had this restriction in Live. All you had to do in order to get around it was to crash out of the game. People did the same thing to get into a 3rd Alt/IC run.

"It's not the system's fault"? Well, too bad. You can't force people to change their behavior. We can only ask "pretty please?"
What if that doesn't work? What are we gonna do then? Shrug our shoulders and just wait for the server to die?
Clearly, system changes are the only long-term solution. It's always the system's fault, because you CAN'T control the players. You can only manipulate them.

Re: Problem: Xrealmers. Solution?
Could you **** not ruin my possibility to play chars on both sides.
X-realming only becomes a problem if there is something must have (e.g. devastator) which you can only get by taking keeps.
Things like that will always cause x-realming, but that's a problem with the reward system not with people wanting to play both realms.
And maybe not everyone has your roleplay alike approach at things like true-destru/order.
