I just got this game downloaded, I moved it to a custom folder, added the launcher. At first the connect button wasn't doing anything so I unchecked the read only box on the war.exe. Now when I click connect after closing and reopening the program 3 times I get a new error, but the game will launch I just can't pick a server or anything or make a character.
Heres the error.
Data.myp:
System.Exception: You need to stop application currently using the following file: data.myp
at MYPHandler.MYPHandler.WriteFileToArchive(FileInArchive archFile, MemoryStream MS)
at MYPHandler.MYPHandler.ReplaceFile(FileInArchive archFile, FileStream newFile)
at RoRLauncher.Client.UpdateWarData()
Hope someone knows a workaround thanks!
The launcher is in admin mode too.

Re: Launcher error
I fixed this problem by selecting the main directory folder, right clicking and going to properties and unchecking read only, on the second window I apply this to all windows folder and subfolders/files. Now I am able to pick a server and create a character.
Re: Launcher error
Can you check if your data.myp is still set to read-only?

Re: Launcher error
Mines not , and neither is anything. I just played a few sc's for the first time on the server and everything is working great! also I noticed the BW's aoe attack was hitting me threw walls and from a second story on gate of ekrund.xyeppp wrote:Can you check if your data.myp is still set to read-only?
Re: Launcher error
My data.myp is unchecked at Read-Only, makes no difference. I also tried to set the entire folder Read-Only to unchecked, and while it appears to do so, it merely reverts back to Read-Only once I've clicked 'Ok'.

If you cannot uncheck the entire folder, make sure to uncheck WAR.exe, RoRLauncher and data.myp. The no-character screen is a bit tricky, as you may have already seen judging from the forums.
We are not 100% sure on what causes it in specific instances, but our best bets include: read-only, running as administrator, making exceptions on firewall and last but no least, downloading Hotspotshield VPN, selecting the server to London and connecting then.

Re: Launcher error
Thanks for the reply xyeppp. I'll try some of those suggestions this afternoon when I get home and keep you updated.

Re: Launcher error
I have run the launcher as admin, unchecked all as read only, and made firewall exceptions (even disabled). I am also connecting on the same network 4 other PCs are able to connect from (vpn unlikey helpful).
I am unable to get to character selection.
Any suggestions?

Re: Launcher error
I have managed to get it working!
I followed xyeppp's suggestions:
1. Ensure that WAR.exe, RoRLauncher and data.myp in your game directory all have 'Read-Only' unchecked.
2. Ensure your firewall is allowing access for both the Launcher and for WAR (you may need to put your firewall in 'Interactive' mode in order to this.)
I'm still receiving the data.myp error message, but as far as I can tell it's having no effect at the moment. I will post an update if anything goes awry again.
