[Magus, Engineer] Buff them like in never released patch 1.4.9
In the never released WAR patch 1.4.9 There was a Buff planed for the Engineer, and respective for the Magus.
In this buff the Engineer should be able to cast his turret while on the move and not only when standing still. AP costs and everything else would be the same. But a new animation has to be introduced, because the box will appear where the casting starts, not where the turret will later stand. For the Magus it would be the same should be changed for his daemons.
So what do you think? The Engineer is currently at its height. With T3 on the horizon its star will decline, and in T4 he will be hampered by all the armor talis, and high armor stats on gear.
So Aza already said that it would be possible to change it. Although the animation would be as described above. All in all I think that this would not be a problem. When a white lion, squig, or a demon is summoned there is also no box appearing when the pet appears. And no one is really surprised when a demon is appearing in front of you is there is an magus in the destroy bunch.
The cast on the move would not as powerful as an instant cast like the tactic. But in an SC the engineer could begin his cast times while moving from one point to the next. Also if an engineer on the move on his chopper is ambushed by an witchelf, he still needs his 3 secs to cast the turret. So no difference for the destros.
What do you think of this buff?

Could we wait with these sort of buffs until T4 when they actually have problems, please?
I'll be completely honest. I never played neither the Engineer, nor the Magus. But I've heard from plenty of people that they fall of in T4, because of high armor values (engi) and resists (magus).
I'm all for buffing them, but I don't see them do bad damage now.
So, I think we should wait to make changes to classes until T4, simply because we can't know what effects it will have in T2 and T3, let alone T4. Some changes have already been made to some classes like the BO and WL, and that's fine I guess. But changing a lot with almost every class, could end wrong very quickly

Another Solution would be to activate the engineer tactic: well oiled machine.
Aza said that would be also no problem to activate it allways on engi and magus, so that you dont have to slot the tactic in one of your slots.
The difference would be that in the tactic is also a redeploy cost reduction to 0 AP.
But it is a buff for order and destro at the same time.

I never said that. But talking often leads devs to take action. Hence, my post.Jaycub wrote:There is no harm in talking about itRazid1987 wrote:Could we wait with these sort of buffs until T4 when they actually have problems, please?

The devs have already said they wouldnt wait for T4 as this is years away before they begin in class balance.

I've ever played the engi, and never felt so squish or unuseful... it's a support character, not a first liner, not a superdps, btw he can help the solving of a battle. The turrett is very strong, but yes, 3 secs of cast are high, but with Redeploy you can move it fastly, it's not simple, but neither impossible. Rifleman + Thinker path could give an high ratio of damage with the 15% crit when near the turret and nice Dot and the snipe, 150 ****' yard hit is huge. Bomber + Thinker is a huge dps spammer on aoe situation, really good for melting corporal resistance with acid bomb plus relative chain of bombs and blunderbass shootings. With the right tactics on and some good will, engi is very fun to play. It's a class for mindless people who like the risk. Everytime that an engi starts to bomb is like a little Vietnam.

I disagree with this.
If the problem is caused by the ability to stack armor, or excessive armor in general, and therefore only manifests when excessively powerful gear and customisation opportunities enter the game in late T4, deal with that problem rather than trying to change the classes to get around it.
I take the view that if a class fundamentally works in lower tiers and gets broken in T4 not because of newer abilities, but because of much more easily changeable aspects of the late T4 environment, it is T4 that needs to change - not the class.
Sadly, I believe it will be much harder to get support for reducing T4 power inflation than it will be to tweak classes, but at some point this issue has to be faced.
