Best class of each class type verified

My hopes is this will help new or returning players

Tank - Which ever one you feel after researching their abilities fits your play style best
DPS - Which ever one you feel after researching their abilities fits your play style best
RDPS - Which ever one you feel after researching their abilities fits your play style best
Heals - Which ever one you feel after researching their abilities fits your play style best

WAR has a unique system where a classes chances of success are based on the person behind the character and not just because this character clearly has better mechanics. There is no one above all class for any situation, each class has their own unique strengths and weaknesses that can be varied based on renown and mastery points to avoid a rock, paper, scissors situation.

And of course nerf Magus because they are the master race and beat every class without question.

**Edit** Just because I know people will get all huffy, yes gear does help a person succeed. However, if you are an idiot without the basic idea of how to player your character properly and go against someone who actually knows how to play their character, I will put money on the person who knows what they are doing.

Best is relative to faction, situation and stuff i guess but let me take a wing at it:

Best tank: Kotbs/chosen
Best DPS: Slayer/mara
Best rdps: bw/sorc(?)
Best Healer: DoK/Wp simply b/c double resource pool, medium armor ez class mechanics

I mean you kind of did the exact opposite of what the point of this post was but okay. I guess I will abandon thread to avoid the arguments over which class is best. Foolish of me to think this could have been avoided.

This is all based on group play 6 man roaming (not SCs), with the flexiblity to zerg bust or 6v6. SCs, 2 - 4 man, solo, ect changes things imo.



Tank - Kotbs/Chosen, I like the auras, they are amazing for group play. They are very survivable and have a good mix of tools to peel off dps/healers.

DPS - Slayer/Mara, both classes can provide in your face dps to help establish a front line push. Both classes offer a fair amount of utility and debuffs, while providing strong dps.

RDPS - Sorc/BW, both classes offer both single and aoe dmg. The ability to AoE and help zerg bust is what puts them ahead of SW/SH in my opinion. (If I was just looking to do 6v6 (no zerg busting) and had to have a RDPS, I'd take SH/SW over Sorc/BW.)

Healer - DoK/WP and Zealot/RP, this catagory I have to pick two healers. There is no best healer for a group setting in my opinion. I think the healers listed above, both do an exelent job and fill different roles. I'd list them as best AoE and Single target healers.



Ultimate even in group play, it depends what your trying to do. If your looking to fight oRvR 6v6, I'd rather run melee train (Dropping range dps for WL+Slayer and Choppa + Mara) 2/2/2 instead of having a Sorc/BW/SW/SH.

I'm more impressed by how people don't understand how difficult it is to acceptably balance a game, and that if the developers HAD been so good that they were capable of making perfect balance as suggested in the OP, there's no way in hell their game would have failed, because a team capable of that can do anything.

I've been playing MMOs, since "The Realm". I've played every single AAA MMO released and so many FTP and indie MMOs I can't remember them all.

In my experience, I've never played an MMO with perfect balance or even near perfect balance. Every MMO I've ever played has had some balance issues.


It's why when I first started posting here and hadn't been around long enough to be impressed with the Dev team. I said something along the lines of it's a daunting task to ask a small handful of people working for free in their spare time to do something multi million dolor companies have never been able to do.


(The funny thing is, balance is also subjective. Glaring balance issues aside, balance is also subjective to what pwns you. If a really strong premade runs a weird comp and wrecks everyone with it, people will start bitching the classes in that comp are OP.)

I am not saying that the game is perfectly balanced. However, I do not believe there is one class per class category or period that is clearly rock beats scissors, scissors beats paper, paper beats rock. I don't think that concept is outlandish at all. The purpose of the post is to say, there is not a best of each class type that is instantly better and that the term "best" is subjective to the persons play style.
