which begs the question should we make all rvr armor sets hard t get and approach with this mentality?

What happens in T4 them where conq, invader, warlord, and sov are?

should all take ages to grind out?
Unless you intend to radically change how RvR lakes function - no.

Currently RvR favours the side with the bigger zerg far too heavily. Incentivizing this kind of play with huge thresholds for progression would be a mistake and lead to a one-sided piece of **** server with no pvp.

Your challenge ultimately will be to find a way to force people into RvR lakes even when the odds are not favourable. Otherwise t4 will just mirror what is happening in t3 right now with 1 side steamrolling for fast pregression and the other side waiting their turn for free progress.

In short, yes.
Spoiler:
As a player, not a dev:

In my opinion, yes. Remember at launch, when few people had a complete annihilator set, because they ONLY dropped from keep bags? When conqueror pieces were for the elite who made it to the rare fortress push? Invader was almost unheard of and Warlord a mystery?

Let's bring that back. It won't ever be permanently possible, but at least for as long as we can. Medallions were introduced as a consolation prize for those who didn't win a roll at the keep after 50+ takes. The primary means of acquisition was always meant to be objectives, with currency coming secondary.

Then forts got removed, and with it, the rarity of Conqueror. Annihilator was common after enough time, and without forts, city pushes were more common resulting in a glut of Invader gear. People learned how to bug Warlord instances, making the gear almost farmable. In the end, the power gaps got too extreme, and currencies were made more common. As far as I'm concerned, the state of currency/gear acquisition at the end of 1.4.7/8 was the result of several mistakes and mishandlings by Mythic.

We don't have the same problems. Mythic accidentally made Warlord too easy to get by bugging out the instances, and people bugged those instances because they were borderline impossible without it. They had to make it more common, or be seen to reward cheaters, who cheated because of their bad design. Here, we can just wipe when things unintentionally become too common.

The problem when discussing this, is that nobody has any idea what this would be like, but everyone thinks they do. So it's moot, and not something to discuss in this thread, or at this time.

Oh yeah - holy **** I forgot about forts. I hope they are reinstated in RoR's t4 implementation. So fun :)

The acquisition and gear progression after the last patches for WAR was perfect, the power gaps were minimal apart from one fundamental mistake, which was lotd in t3.

Power gaps aren't created by people acquiring gear by bugging instances. It only speeds up the process. The power gap already exists, it just doesn't become visible, because all have to use the same gear level and only a few players are lucky to use better items.
Having too many pieces of item sets in one single tier, obviously t4, is the reason for imbalance.

this is good thing if all these items are on equal power/item level. It is better to have many gear on similar power/level so you can mix and build your own set of items instead of only one best that always surpass the old one. It will be much more enjoyable if all t4 gear got similar stats and the diffrenece was the procs and armor bonuses that set combos provide so there is some diversity instead of all runing with exact same best of all time gear...

It took me 3 days to get 20 medallions as Order . It's not terrible but its not great. It was much easier on live. But it also gives people something to work for as others have said it takes time to implement New content especially T4.
